    Povetkin to face Firtha

Unbeaten WBA/WBO #4 rated heavyweight Alexander Povetkin (20-0, 15 KOs) returns on December 18. The former amateur world champion and Olympic champion will meet Nicolai Firtha (19-8-1) in a scheduled ten-rounder at Berlin’s Max Schmeling Halle. Povetkin is trained by Teddy Atlas, who believes his protege needs a little more seasoning before challenging Wladimir Klitschko, nevertheless, a world championship fight is still in sight for Povetkin. “Firtha’s fighting style and size similar to Wladimir Klitschko. In this respect, the fight in Berlin is a good test,â€￾ he said. Headlining the Sauerland Event card is WBO world cruiserweight champion Marco Huck against mandatory challenger Denis Lebedev

 lol, it gets funnier, I'm sure this chap is just the right preparation for Klitschko

Having no more than a 70% fluency in English, I don't think he'll be learning Russian anytime soon.

Apparently Povetkin's people aren't interested in a fight with Adamek at this time.

Mission completed. Povetkin ruined. Wins a decision, gest dropped in the process, not counted. This is the 2nd time under Atlas that happened.
Needed a decision against a guy that was knocked out cold by Tye Fields.

Yep, happened against Javier Mora too, he totally failed to improve or match the performance Sultan Ibragimov turned in vs Mora.

This is how I see it: Povetkin doesn't need a coach. All he needs is a conditioning team and a nutritionist. The rest he takes care of himself, he already has such a great amateur career- he knows the basics. Don't try to change him.

Atlas is a shit trainer and his career is hallmarked with shit. Fights with fighters, fights with agents, fights over fender-benders, fights with Tyson....ruined fighters under his command....and yet he is regarded as some sort of a guru.:dunno:

Atlas be damned. Never mind ruining guys like Grant or Briggs, but Povetkin actually had both physical talent and solid basic techniques, now he seems to have neither
