If Berto is worth even half a shit, he easily decisions Campas he doesnt stop him though, because he's not that fucking good
I can't get Cosme Rivera dropping and hurting Berto..out of my mind...:bangh: Berto was lucky it was late in the round..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQK0QW6FSRQ&nofeather=True
I like watching Berto personally. Good short puncher on the inside with good variety. He's fun - a guy who really wants to scrap, which makes him a rarity these days. His defence blows though & he can't control the ring, distance or the pace for shit. Berto-Cotto would be a very fun fight, IMO. He beats Campas by split decision I think in a fight that would be easy if he had any ring generalship.
I am very surprised you like Berto. He's a basic fighter with fast hands, and no real skill or craft. Almost like a more aggressive version of Khan.
Except he fights nothing like Amir Khan. Literally nothing. My beef with Khan isn't necessarily that he sucks....just that I fucking hate him. Berto's mediocre at best on the outside and can barely control distance for shit. These are Khan's forte's. OTOH, he has very good punch variety and is fairly excellent on the inside. Area's where Khan is a complete dilettante. The only things they really have in common are that they're limited, lack real versatility and are gonna get a surprising ass whipping off a nobody with the right style at one point or another. For the record Khan is probably slightly the better fighter of the two. I'd just rather watch the tide beat up a rock on a still day.
I like lots of fighters who aren't very good.....I just hate guys who fight like dead eyed point scoring robots.
Stylistically they might be different, but they certainly have inate similarities. They are both basic fighters with fast hands. Berto is more aggressive, and Khan is more of an amateur style boxer. I find them both fairly robotic, without much craft. You think Berto is an excellent inside fighter? Like what fight for example? He seems to be strictly a mid range fighter. I haven't seen him do good work on the inside. When I first saw Berto, I thought damn, this guy is underrated. People were acting like he's a scrub, so he seemed better than advertised. However, the more I see of him the more I think he is not very good, and in fact, I think Collazo beat him. I like fighters that aren't very good sometimes too, as long as they are likeable and fun to watch, but as it happens I don't find Berto particularly good to watch. I find a prime Mosley far more watchable for example.
I'd agree - I dont think he's very good either. I just find him OK to watch, mainly on account of his aggression and his punch variety. You're actually right he isn't a terribly good infighter either....any praise I gave him in that area's was probably multiplied by the comparison to Khan who's literally one of the most rudimentary guys at short range I've ever seen. Berto's a pretty decent puncher from shorter ranges though and occasionally shows some nice moves with his feet in terms of angles at shorter ranges. I'm thinking mainly of the Trabart and Rivera fights I suppose. But the thing with Berto which makes him suck more than anything is that he's totally passive with distance. If a guy wants to come in close with him in they walk. If they wanna fight at distance that's where the fight happens. So basically yeah, he's shit. Just shit in a less unbearable way than Amir Khan.
