Who has seen Morales' comeback fights? How does he look?

Curious because I can see him campaigning to fight Marquez if he beats Barrios.

    Does he have anything left?

he looked okay fighting at 140 some pounds. i was scared for his first comeback bout since his opponent's been active and was a big strong dude. per usual, it was a fun fight. the last guy he stopped w/ bodyshots was a complete scrub though.

barrios himself is probably a shell of himself, so i'd expect a competitive fight with morales getting the decision at home.

    Thanks for the update.

I'm sure he's fighting for the money...I'd hate to see Marquez decapitate him.

I'm inclined to believe Marquez beats him in their respective primes...a fight today is a mismatch.

I haven't seen the Limond fight, only the Alfaro fight.

Honestly? Morales didn't look as bad as I expected. He is obviously borderline shot, and a shell of his former brilliant self, but he still has SOMETHING left, he's not Roy shot.

It is somewhat telling thought that Alfaro has been stopped by DeMarco and stopped a couple of other times too, and Erik couldn't stop him.

But Joony, you say Limond is a complete scrub, well yeah he's not great, but that complete scrub almost beat Khan, and only had 2 defeats before Morales.

Oh and Musze, obviously he's too shot to stand a chance against Marquez, but I don't think Marquez destroys him. I might be wrong, but I think Erik is going to put up somewhat of a fight.

Also, prime for prime I think Morales wins.

He's in a Jonesque kind of 'shot' level but he'll be competitive and will go down throwing punches at least. Fight with Barrios should be fun and a close one.

Mex it's a well known fact Limmond did not genuinely knock Khan down, much less KOd him. Khan slipped on some piss which had been dribbling down Limmonds leg (he was terrified of facing a monster like Amir)

i think morales' handspeed would've troubled marquez. that and his ability to bounce back from hard shots and retaliate furiously would've made the fight very competitive imo.

No question Morales is a tough SOB...which is his greatest strength and weakness. He'd take an ass kicking but will go down swinging.

The one thing about Morales...he was touted as this feared puncher but really once above 122, outside a shot Kevin Kelley he didn't KO anyone of note.

He KO'd Espadas with 1 punch, dropped Barrera in the rematch, and stunned Pacquiao as much as anyone else has at 130+.

Morales wasn't a 1 punch KO artist, but he was a solid puncher.

Morales is downright underrated these days.

He's one of the best fighters of his era.

I think in his prime he beats Marquez clearly. Marquez is a better fighter than Barrera, but stylistically I think Barrera matches up better with Morales.

Morales' range, handspeed, jab, boxing ability, and sheer aggression/refusal to back down would win him a clear decision over Marquez.

He's got the range and handspeed and power to get the better of Marquez in a firefight, and also he has enough skill to box with Marquez, and a good jab when he uses it.

Let's not forget too, that Morales is the only Person to beat Pacquiao decisively at the higher weights, the ONLY person.

Even if you think Marquez won the rematch, it was close, very close.

Erik beat Manny like 8 rounds to 4, in a brilliant performance.

Morales's punching power went down after he started using Winning gloves. When he was using Reyes, he was indeed a big puncher.

I wouldn't hang his hat on the Espadas KO. I did say anyone of note.

Plus, refresh my memory...wasn't that MAB knockdown questionable? Didn't MAB legitimately knock him down with a bodyshot that wasn't called or am I thinking the other way around.

It's been awhile since I've seen those fights.

It was the other way around in the rematch. MAB clearly went down but it wasn't called.

And yeah Espadas might not be anyone of note, but he was a decent fighter and Erik KO'd him with ONE punch at 130.

What Double says is true. For some reason he started wearing Winning gloves, and not punching as hard.

Did he have hand troubles? If he did, I don't remember it being particularly documented.

Manny blamed that first performance on blisters on his feet...wore the wrong pair of socks.

Also, I thought Erik fought on fairly even terms with Manny through six or eight rounds in the rematch...which is saying something after losing to Zahir Raheem between Pacquiao fights.

The third fight...he got run over.

Well i know he had a fight this year, but i thought he was talking about retiring. Apparently, he is looking for a title run. I want to see him and morales one last time.

It´s nice to see Erik keepin it real. He wants to use Juan Manuel Marquez as a stepping stone to a 4th fight with Pacquiao. :Wah:
