Wlad/Chisora Ortiz/Peterson Darchinian/Mares Khan/Maidana GSP/Koscheck I think I may end up jizzing all over the screen!
The cage fighting is a disgusting mismatch between two boring fighters, but it's going to be another great boxing weekend. :bears:
Then Solis, Cloud, Huck-Lebedev & Hopkins-Pascal the week after. :mj: I love boxing so much. Cage fighting is blah.
As evidenced by his excitement over Hopkins-Pascal... Another championship fight between the very best. Very honorable. :Giggle:
It's a fascinating fight. You don't have to be rich to be my girl you don't be cool to rule my world! Won't be pretty but it's sure as shit interesting.
Did you happen to catch the Strikeforce Henderson vs Babalu card? No world beaters on the card, but some seriously brutal KO's. You might like it.
I like watching Adamek, aye. Obviously there's only one winner, but it's another chance to have a look at him as a heavyweight & scope out how he fares against Haye or the Klits. Plus he's part of an accumulator bet i have on the weekends action.
What? In what respect? Personally I'd rather watch a retarded toddler finger paint. In all honesty, I am looking forward to Ortiz-Peterson, Darchinyan-Mares and Khan-Maidana. But zero interest in Klit, Hopkins or Adamek.
As my Scottish homeboy Hut would say, "Ah cannae wait". Really looking forward to this one, two of my favourite fighters on the same night.
all of the aforementioned have the potential to be stinkers except for darchinyan vs. mares and perez/agbeko. khan vs. maidana might be good depending on how khan fights. rest will be boring tactical bouts. that ufc ppv is garbage. the only intrigue there is to see if koscheck can actually make this fight competitive. i know hopkins is no longer keen on the eye, but i'm still interested to see how pascal is going to do against the old man. still, it's a guaranteed stinker.
In the respect that I don't know who is gonna win and there's allot of elements in the fight in terms of how each is gonna deal with what the other brings that are completely up in the air. In the respect that Hopkins is probably the greatest thinking fighter of the last two generations and it's fascinating to see if he can pull another strategic master piece out of his hat against the odds like against Tarver and Pavlik.
You are aware of Hopkins most recent fight with Jones, right? And you are aware that the Pavlik "Masterpiece" was more than 2 years ago, right? I loved Hopkins ability to perform as well as he did post 40 years old. But that is a thing of the past. At his age, he isn't remotely the fighter he was even 2 years ago. This fight holds one bit of curiosity for me and that is whether or not Pascal stops Hopkins. That is it.
You know me. I can typically hype most MMA events. UFC 124 isn't one of them. There really isn't a PPV worthy fight on the card. My only interest is seeing whether or not GSP punishes Koscheck. I know it's tough for you to deal with, but I call them like I see them. If an MMA card is boring then that's what I'll say. That being said, all in all, this is a better weekend for boxing than MMA. Period. And I know you. I know you aren't 'pumped' for Hopkins-Pascal. You aren't that simple. And I'm not sure, but I'd guess you know better than to be excited about Klit-Chisora.
All that's part of the intrigue. It's against the odds, but based on what Froch was able to do with range and length against Pascal, the wildness of Pascal's attacks and the fact that Pascal doesn't fight at a very high pace, generally I think there's reason to believe Hopks can pull another shocker out and retire on a high note. Pascal's physicality might prove too much for Pops like Taylor & Calzaghe's did but Pascal simply doesn't fight at the pace of those guys & I'm not counting him out of this one.
Fuck you, MMA boy. I'm under no illusions this is gonna be a crowd pleaser - it's gonna stink the house out. But there are elements of it that are interesting to a boxing fan. And for the record I enjoy watching Wlad too. Some of us take a slightly more nuanced pleasure from our combat sports than the tattooed Red Necks screaming 'fuck yeah! fuck yeah!' over rap metal at the UFC.
it's possible Kahn/Maidana could be disappointing, but a stinker? I don't think so. And Vic/Mares, Ortiz/Peterson and and Perez/Agbeko II are all but guaranteed to be good. Sorry, but I won't let unfounded negativity pass. It's one thing to want to rain on people's parade when there's an indication of storms, but to when the forecast is for sun? We can't have it.
About a third of the people on this board don't really like boxing any more. The sports sucks, every fighter sucks apart from Pac, every fight sucks apart from Pac-Floyd, world champions are 'no skill bums'.
And that's all I'm saying. And you can save the "MMA Boy" stuff. I would guess I was watching boxing before you were born. I like both sports and have an ability, which didn't seem all that special until now, to call "shitty" fights "shitty" whether they happen in a cage, a ring, on a mat, or in a backyard. And Hopkins, at 150 years old, is capable of staging the king of all shitty fights. PERIOD. So gently pull your panties out of your ass crack and calm down.
