I mean for a couple of years it seemed like a Hopkins Dawson fight would make great sense but yet it never went down but yet as soon as Pascal beats Dawson Hopkins seemingly signs on to fight him the next morning? What was the deal there ?
Yeah, Hopkins has two fights in the two years since the Pavlik win, and as soon as Dawson loses he's there for a title fight with the man who beat him four months later.
the man who beat dawson happens to be the same man who can sell more than 1500 tickets to a boxing match
Stylistically Dawson is a worse matchup for Hopkins than Pascal. Pascal makes far too many mistakes and Hopkins feels he can capitalize on them.
Hopkins has pretty much come out and said straight out he doesn't think he could beat Dawson at this stage of his career. He saw things he could exploit in Pascal he couldn't in Dawson. Can't really blame him at his age for picking and choosing his matchups. He's still fighting pretty strong opposition for the most part.
what's Steward gonna do for Dawson at this stage? I think Dawson lost to Pascal because he was lazy. Pascal just outworked him. I do think Cotto looks pretty good with Steward but a little too late. He should have gotten him for the Pacquiao fight.
