As if Aldo, Grispi, Mendes and Gamburyan weren't enough, the UFC recently grabbed a couple of top 10 FW's in Michihiro Omigawa and Kid Yamamoto.

It's gonna be fun seeing all these guys matched up.

Yeah my bad. His first fight in the UFC will be at Bantamweight.

So the UFC is stacking their FW and BW divisions.

Even better. I always wanted to see Faber-Yamamoto. And it seems like a better match at a better weight for Kid.

    Good deal.

Kid/Faber should be one of the most fan friendly fights of the year. Non stop.

I haven't seen him fight in a long time and a lot of people are saying Kid is past his prime, any truth to this? He's 33, so he is on the back side of his career, but he may have a few good years left.

I think he has slipped a bit. We shall see.

I would like to see a Jap dominate a UFC weight class for a while. I think it's misleading to fans that none have, yet.

It is and it isn't. Kind of just pure numbers more than anything. Japan is not even close to the size of California and probably not half the population. (not sure on the population exactly, just guessing). Not that there couldn't be, but the odds are against them.

I think the lighter weight classes certainly make it a greater possibility.

Absolutely, Aoki could have possibly if he learned how to fight standing up. Long live Sakuraba.

not sure what to think of aoki. were all of his opponents stupid to get tangled up w/ him or did melendez layout a blue print on how to beat him? or perhaps it's a bit of both and maybe the cage doesn't bode well for aoki's grappling advantages?

regardless, i thought the agreement of aoki vs. melendez was that despite the outcome of their first encounter, melendez was supposed to return the favor and fight aoki in japan.

I had heard the same thing, Aoki was supposed to get a rematch in a Dream ring so he could where his girly pants. Last I heard though was Melendez was hoping to fight Alvarez in a co-promotion with Bellator.

They are, its obvious why he uses them, it gives an advantage in submissions. In my mind, the pants are no different than a Gi.

Joony, I can't stand Melendez neither. He reminds me of a complete doof. I root for him to lose everytime. I wanted Aoki to win. He just fought like a girl.
