Both Dan Rafael and Steve Kim are naming Brian Magee as the possible opponent for Bute in March.

Bute gets two million for fighting Brian Magee.

Here is what I tell Showtime as the Super Six winner upon hearing that:

Sure. Bute no problem. 75/25 split in my favour or HBO.

What an insult to the fighters, who are in the SuperSix from the beginning, to pay Bute two million for a glorified sparring session.

Boxing just can´t get it right.

exactly what i was thinking. While I'm kind of glad to see that Bute will finally fight the top guy's in the division, rewarding him with more $$$ per fight than what the guy,s who entered the super six makes ( or at least, I think so ) is a slap in the face to them

Reminiscent of Joe Frazier on the sidelines of the heavyweight tournament, and then beating the winner.

    Disappointing fight for Bute.

Froch badly fucked up Brian Magee. Starched him cold with a right uppercut.

That's Eamon Magee, and they are not brothers.

That was Eamonn Magee, he got his throat slashed in Belfast before he turned pro, and then he got kneecapped before he was due to fight Sharmba Mitchell. He was indeed also the first man to knock down Ricky Hatton. He was a decent fighter but you could tell he was bad fucking news outside the ring. I don't think him and Brian are related in any way though.

Um, probably because they're both from Northern Ireland and both called Magee

I agree Slice, the guy could actually fight a bit. Although his record isn't great, he seemed better than average domestic level, probably more like a solid Euro level fighter. Was more competitive than a lot of people against Hatton.

But yeah, outside the ring he is clearly bad news.

Presumably all these things that happened to him weren't random attacks, and he was also shot in the leg as a "punishment attack".

I think he's in prison at the moment actually, for head butting someone and beating up an ex partner.

    Doesn't suprise me mate

Double 'ard bastard as they say! The thing which held him back (other than getting kneecapped and shot obviously ) was that he would go into a shell in fights and not do anything (when he clearly had a very good chance of winning) and he'd get outworked, happened against Hatton and very nearly against Shea Neary. He floored and pushed Urkal very close also when Urkal was still decent.
