To me, both Ortiz & Rios are basically punks/low lives. Rios at least doesnt try to hide that he's a punk. Ortiz has been trained by the master De La Pollo himself in the art of script reading, and deception.

They're both like cheap imitations of Vargas. Only Nando had far more talent than both of them.

Garcia really exposed Ortiz as a complete fraud. Even said the maidana fight was nothing. That he had seen him walk out of the ring crying after a brutal sparring. :laugh11:

Assuming Rios beats Acosta in Feb... fuck it! Lets get this fight on already.

I couldn't get through it. The bad writing, coupled with everyone involved being an obvious douche is too much.

It's a damn shame about Ortiz. Like Hut Hut said after the recent card, the guy is just a headcase. He doesn't have the right mentality to be a top fighter.

By the way, is the writer of this article 5 years old? Or did they start learning English a month ago?

It's a shame too because I really liked Ortiz before the Maidana fight. He is clearly talented, and can be fun to watch too, stylistically he reminds me a bit of Nando, who I've always been a fan of.

Also he does do the nice guy act, he obviously gets the fakeness off Oscar, the retarded fake smile etc.

I agree. And when did he become one of the top trainers in the world?

  12. steve_dave

    steve_dave Hard As Fuck

He isn't. He's a trainer of scumbags, and that's about it.

I will say this. If he did do all those things for his fighters, he at least has a giving heart. But for some reason they are all assholes. Maybe thats just their way and Robert Doesnt understand that its a scumbag attitude his fighters have.

It's 90% quotes. Can't really blame the writer for that.

    Yes, you really can.

Exactly. It's an interview more than anything else.

Khan made Ortiz quit on his stool after two fuckin rounds in the amateurs. They're all cunts but that part is believable

You can blame the writer for it being poorly written. :nono:

This isn't a FB thing though. Or a shot at Boxingscene, like Cupey's post obviously was.

    Ha, I didn't even see Cupey's post.

I know what you're saying. Just wanted to clarify, though, that the piece as far as I can read it is basically an interview with Robert Garcia, in response to an article on Ortiz that was posted 2-3 days prior.

    It could be transcribed better.

I don't necessarily disagree, but it's dealers choice.

My own personal preference for writing is that less than 50% of the article is quote-based. But I appear to be in the minority in that regard.

  26. steve_dave

    steve_dave Hard As Fuck

It should be much less. Everything about the piece is amateur hour. I used to do Q and A style too... when I was 18.

  27. Jake

Jake WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

It should be... but tell that to Max Boxing, to Dan Rafael, etc.

Articles also shouldn't be written in 1st person format, unless it's written by the fighter himself. But again, I land in the minority in that belief. Very few writers (less than .01%) have anything to do with the subject about which they are writing, yet to seem to go out of their way to make themselves part of the story, which infuriates me.

Because they like the attention, you know that Jake.

Have you read some of the shit Rafael posts on his twitter?

It's a shame he posts actual news on there.

I'm convinced the guy has like one or two readers, that he's probably related to, that just use different screen names during his "epic" four hour chats.

Yeah, it's really bad. That's why I always enjoy your work.

    Thanks, really appreciate that.

Mitchell - what I find funny is the depths of some writers' hypocrisy. Rafael talks shit about Haye every chance he gets... then dares to make an issue out of Haye denying him an interview.

Always amazes me when writers/interviewers rag on fighters and fight personalities for their alleged lack of professionalism whenever denying interviews, when in fact it has everything to do with the interviewer.
