I think theres a chance that a prime Curry could take apart the Hawk and stop him.... but I'd favor Jackson. I think Curry outboxes him for a few rounds, and gets him in trouble, but eventually Jackson clips him and well..... you know. Jackson KO 5.
Prime Curry wins by decision or maybe a late TKO. Jackson would be outboxed throughout and would have a lot of trouble landing a fight ending bomb. And I'm not sure how well Jackson could handle the incoming. Curry wasn't a huge puncher, but he was a good one and he was very accurate. I can easily see Curry countering Jackson to pieces. To me, Jackson has a puncher's chance, but that's about it.
Funny how everyone keeps saying "prime Curry" when the 154 lb version was anything but that. Jackson KO's him whenever he lands.
Your overrating the hell outta Curry's defense. He was sound defensively, but he got hit. And there was NEVER a fight in which Jackson didnt land his bombs. McCallum and G-man just had the chin to take them. Curry did not. Its really that simple.
I was about to say 'agreed'... but I decided to look at his record, and Curry fought two fights at 154 after he beat Colin Jones. These were pre-Honeyghan fights. I didn't see either fight (vs. James Green and vs. Pablo Baez)so I really can't comment.

That was the version of Curry I assmued we were talking about. Jackson KO's any Curry. Just based on styles. If Curry had the legs of Ray Leonard or the lenth and range of Hearns it'd be a different story, but for the most part Donald was a statioary fighter who used his excellent reflexes, and great skill to pick off, slip, and parry punches and counter. If was a very effective style.... but against Jackson its the wrong style in the long run. Curry would do be controlling the fight for a few rounds, but eventually Jackson is gonna land. And when he does theres little to suggest that Curry would be able to handle it.
There's nothing funny about it. The topic calls for when Curry was still Welter champion, not when moved up after Honeyghan.
Nah. I know you are a huge Jackson fan, but Curry was the better fighter and would outbox him. Curry isn't Terry Norris.
I'm JUST as big a fan of Curry as I am Jackson, so that doesnt work. And yes, he was a better fighter overall than Jackson, but based on styles he gets stretched here. Curry would outbox Jackson alright.... until he gets hit. FAR lesser fighters than Jackson were able to land on Curry. And there was NEVER a fight in which Julian wasnt able to connect. The reason for this being because Julian wasnt just a crude swinger. He had good technique, he delivered FAST(see the Norris KO) and had power in either hand, and with every punch he threw. In other words.... this isnt Colin Jones, Elio Diaz, or Hwang in front of Curry. Can you please explain to me how Curry is gonna handle a flush shot from Jackson? You know as well as I do that as soon as Jackson lands, Curry goes to sleep. You just love Curry too much to admit it.
