Khan Says He’d KO Breidis Prescott “Inside Three-Roundsâ€￾ If They Fought Again

By James Slater - Though we await official confirmation as to who WBA 140-pound champion Amir Khan will fight in his next fight, tentatively planned for the UK in April, one man is hoping he will get the chance to fight Khan a second time. And even though it looks like Breidis Prescott of Colombia will not be Khan’s April challenger (Lamont Peterson has been heavily favoured to get the shot), the only man to have beaten Khan continues to ask for a rematch..

Prescott is set to be back in action on a January ESPN2 card (against a TBA), and for as long as he remains active, the big-hitter will call for a second fight with the Brit. Prescott has said many times he will KO Khan again if given the opportunity of a second fight, but what does Khan think would happen if the two did clash again now, up at light-welter?

Speaking recently with the newspaper of his hometown, The Bolton News, the 24-year-old star who thrilled us all with that great winning fight with Marcos Maidana, gave his take on what would happen if he and the long-armed Colombian tangled for a second time.

“Prescott does not hit as hard as Maidana,â€￾ Khan said. “He [Maidana] is as big a puncher as boxing has had for a long time. His record says it all. Maidana is a big puncher but I dealt with his power and that was a big step up for me. The reason I went down against Prescott and not Maidana is the weight. I used to lose 12-pounds in a week, compared to six pounds now. I used to kill myself making weight.

“I think it would be an easy fight against Prescott now. I would knock him out inside three rounds.â€￾

Khan, in his big Las Vegas win, certainly proved he has a far better chin than it appeared back in September of 2008. And in taking the bombs of Maidana as he did, the Olympic silver medallist has every right to feel confident he would be able to take Prescott’s best shots in a return. But again, it doesn’t look like we will get to find out for sure.

A fight with the talented Peterson is a decent-looking prospect of a match for Khan, but wouldn’t a “revengeâ€￾ meeting with Prescott have more appeal? Some fans say Khan has moved on sufficiently enough to render a rematch a pointless exercise. Others still suggest Prescott just might “have Khan’s number.â€￾

Until he forever rids himself and his fans of any doubts by way of a rematch win, Khan will never know for sure himself. And as long as he continues to fight, whenever a microphone is put in front of him, the “Khanconquerorâ€￾ will demand that second fight!

Christ who wrote that? Slater? Yes, much later, if not never.

He calls himself the "Khanqueror" not the "Khanconqueror"

No point in that fight ever happening. Of course he's asking for a rematch, he's irrelevant now while Khan has moved on to bigger and better things.

From a professional, business point of view, I can see the sense of that.

What I don't accept is Khan's attempt to blur our vision with talk of Maidana. Maidana is a blunt force fighter, Prescott is height, speed, leverage.

Khan should shut the fuck up. Actions speak louder than words. Khan's words say he would KO prescott in 3 ? Well my dear Khan Prescott's actions say he KO's you in 1.

Khan doesn't believe that shit...if he did he would have rematch Prescott by NOW...

It's not like Prescott went on to set the boxing world on fire and is making Khan wait for his chance at redemption. Prescott was an undefeated unknown when he first touched Khan chin, today he is a twice defeated unknown bum...

    Then take the rematch.

As I say- power comes in all sorts of forms.

Maidana is a hammer, Prescott is a whip.

It's a bad style for Khan who is not happy fighting people who are almost as fast and taller and fight this slashing style that Prescott does.

If I was Khan, and I wasn't going to rematch him soon, I would say ought, cos all I am doing is drawing attention to a fight that I got wasted in.

    Prescott is utter shite.

He's got one way of fighting and that's to throw his big right hand all over the place. Khan won't be fooled by that again.

Khan's way too fast + way too good NOW for this bum.

    :dunno:

it was the jab which rocked him and the left hook which finished him.

If that khan fight had gone on longer we would have seen what i was trying to say.

I think Prescott fights a similar pattern each fight. He's predictable. Left hooks, wild big rights, leaving himself wide open.

I would love to see a re-match and see khan destroy him.

A rematch would do a lot of business and it would, if Khan won, be akin to a clean slate.

This "3 rounds" thing....is pure Freddie Roach speak.

If Khan is going to talk Prescott then he better fight him, as I say, right now, talking about Prescott is the wrong sort of attention.

People were saying the same before a possible khan/maidana fight.

Yeah, but Maidana didn't hold a dominating, devastating first round knockout over Khan.

True, but this is what alot of people were assuming would happen in a khan/maidana fight.

How do you see the khan/prescott re-match ending up if it happens?

While I agree that Prescott and Maidana are different, Prescott is not particularly fast. He's not much faster than Maidana, if at all. Khan is magnitudes faster.

Khan has improved plenty since getting KO. He should be able to take Prescott into the later rounds and stop him....if not at least win a easy decision.

If this re-match does occur, a major part of me wants khan to beat him senseless over 12 rounds, wiping the cocky smirk off his face that we'll probably see when prescott is in the ring at the start :kidcool:

So say if khan beats prescott in a re-match, whether it be via ko or points and goes onto lose to bradley/alexander, what will people then say about khan?

Hard to say. Kudos for exorcising the demon of Prescott, Kudos for winning and defending a world title, but......lots of gaps there to keep him out of any HOF debates for some time to come.
