It's a close (possibly controversial) decision at all weights in which i give the edge to Pernell. I think the fact Whitaker is a southpaw gives him a slight edge. Mayweather is better offensively and his lead right hand would be a good weapon though.

It goes the distance 11 times out of 10.

Floyd's defense was better. Against top quality opposition Whitaker rarely got hit. Floyd never gets hit because he doesn't even take the fights.

I'll take Whitaker. The main advantage Floyd usually has over fighters is defense/skill. Whitaker has better defense, is at least as skilled, and actually takes a few more risks.

Whitaker's defense was a little better, Floyd's offense is a lot better.

Floyd wins at all three weights

You meant to say Floyd avoids fighting Whitaker at all weights...

I was about to write Agreed 100% until the last sentence.

I don't think there's any way a fight between these two ends in a KO.

I don't agree at all that Mayweather's offense is better.

nor do I... he hits a bit harder, thats about it... Whitaker had much more of a flow to his offense, and integrated offense and defense better than Floyd... he was clearly superior at close range

Whitaker was greater than Floyd, end of story

I'd give Floyd a better chance at 147, but he loses all the fights. Floyd's style plays into the hands of a southpaw...add to that Whitaker was better in the pocket than anyone Floyd fought...

I believe Whitaker catches Floyd when he doesn't expect it.

I expected sly to say Floyd wins all three fights. can't think of anyone Sly thinks would beat Floyd including Sugar Ray Robinson.

Bet any money if this these two were around the same time they wouldn't have met in the ring.

And I would expect Muzse to say Floyd loses all fights as I can't think of any great fighter you'd pick Floyd to beat.

Whitaker-Mayweather is a chessmatch where hardly anyone gets hit but where the judges would score it for the harder puncher. Y'all act as though Mayweather is one of the typical mexican roadsweepers and old smaller fighters that Whitaker was used to beating up.

Whitaker's competition-level is definitely higher than Mayweather's though, when you look at their full careers.

Pea wins easily at all three weights. Not close at all in my opinion.

This match-up should be called, "The Battle of the Horrendously Over-rated."

On one hand, you have a guy who refuses to be a pro and who insists that if by amateur standards he's won, then by pro standards if he hasn't, he's been victimized.

On the other hand, you have a guy who refuses to face anyone with any chance of beating him, electing instead to retire anytime GBP doesn't have a sure bet for him who can sell tickets (because PBF himself certainly cannot).

PBF wins. The only questions regarding this fight are:

    1. Would PBF actually agree to fight a fighter in his prime as accomplished as Whitaker?

    2. Whatever happens, would Whitaker concede defeat if the decision went against him? Or would he argue and bitch?
