I thought I posted on this thread earlier... nice schedule, although the Jan 7 card doesn't do anything for me (par for the course when it comes to Pellulo)/

    Is that a mistake?

Two light-heavyweight prospects of the highest order fighting each other at that stage. Syllakh is 14-0 and Despaigne is 8-0, both with some amateur pedigree.

Yeah, his opposition hasn't been much at all...he's being brought along very slowly.

On the last page of the February issue of The Ring there's an interview with FNF programming director Dough Loughery...says, among other things, that the FNF budget has "steadily increased".

Hard to say until he fights stiffer opposition.

Coming out of the Olympics a lot of people had him, along with Gary Russell Jr., among the best pro prospects from the US team...not saying it means all that much, in reality, just saying the perception of him at the time.

Andrade's got some tools to work with, he's very young (22) and he is athletically gifted...so we'll see how he develops.

He's not taking the Danny Jacobs route to get there, that's for sure.

Here's one of his longer fights...two fights ago in a six-rounder from last April.

It Appears he's Taking the Andre Ward Charted "Path of LEAST Resistance", for the Early Portion of his Career...w/Faaaaaaaaaar LESS Coverage, Charles "The Future" Hatley Fought 3 CREDIBLE Guys in 2010 (Marco Primera, Dewey Welliver & Emmanuel Augustus)...Each of those Bouts was MORE Entertaining than Anything Andrade has Produced as a Pro, Thus Far...

I think the expectation levels for a gold medal winner are a little bit higher than for a guy like Andrade.

But yeah, Ward and Goossen talking about taking a fast-track approach lasted all of two fights...as soon as Kenny Kost clocked him that went out the window.

In HINDSIGHT, it Appears that Goosen Brought Ward Along @ just the RIGHT Pace...The Same May Eventually Prove to B True w/Andrade, but the Problem is, he's Sucking Up T.V. Dates that Guys who R Actually WILLING to Prove Themselves (RIGHT NOW) would Gladly Take...

I understand the criticism, and it's appropriate given just how poor Andrade's opposition has been...but in general, I don't get too upset with prospects getting FNF time. It's different with HBO.

I like watching (potentially) good prospects develop...I may not be in the majority, but as a viewer, I can say I have more interest in watching a good prospect fight on undercard than a very limited fighter in a main event, and that I will probably make more of an effort to watch Andrade fight than say Chris Arreola.

REED's Obviously Biased on the Matter, Given his Involvement w/Hatley....& Even Though Andrade CLEARLY Got the Better of Hatley in the Ammy's, Hatley was a Decorated Ammy in his Own Right & he's Actually WILLING to Test Himself a Bit, Even in the Early Stages of his Career...

It REALLY Irked REED when Andrade Got T.V. Time on 2 TEXAS Area FNF Shows, w/Hatley Getting ZERO Consideration...They'd Rather Fly a Guy from Rhode Island or Wherever, than Give a State-bred Prospect Some Shine...

Me thinks Andrade gets outpointed all day long vs better skilled opponents behind a strong jab.

Has Andrade really got potent punch power? I'm abit sceptical.

Another publicized American amateur I haven't been too impressed with as a pro is Shawn Porter.

He's done a good job of dropping weight, but he's still short, appears pretty light-fisted, he's a bit of a glove-puncher and he can be countered...been hit with a few good punches Adjaho.

Porter's not terrible, but his future looks limited.

Unfortunately, we were left with Frankie Archuleta instead of Cruz.

    Not much of a fight.

    Burgos TKO 2.
