The cinematic version can't come close to capturing the real thing.

Foreman's story would be a good one, would love to see who would play young and old George.

How about Charles Shufford who knocked out James Toney in two?

The disappearance of Sergei Kobozev would be compelling.

haha...I'm stupid. I was thinking Clifford Etienne as I was reading Lamon Brewster.

Who has a better story than Etienne, but sort of similar? That's the guy I'm looking for.

Must say I'm quite surprised there hasn't been a Buster Douglas movie made yet

Yep............has a win over John Ruiz, so a movie for Kobozev would be sure to enhance Roys legacy.

Seriously.........I would love to see a proper docu drama on the Kobozev killing, I know its not Americas cup of tea, so to speak, the whole Eastern European thing, but I find what happened quite interesting.

The most detail I ever got on it was that he was working doors to make money on the side, got into an argument, refused to let some so called Russian Mafiosi in the door, and was later abducted, tortured, had his neck broken and was buried under a patio or doorway somewhere in Jersey.

Another guy who could have a movie done on him is Frankie DePaula.

Brewster's career isn't that "special" compared to other notable heavyweight champions, but not all movies have to be career retrospectives of great boxers...there can be specific periods or fights that can be focused on for a 90-100 mintue movie...and I think you could get that from the story of Lamon Brewster, a rather nondescript heavyweight for much of his career, and 7-1 underdog, winning his first world title (in the fashion he did) shortly after the passing of his trainer...and he did put some defenses of it togther, although if you were making a movie and wanted to include any of that, you might want to gloss over the Meehan decision and focus more ont he Golota knockout.

I thought you were talking about Douglas, comparing his story of winning the title as a huge underdog shortly after his mother passed, to Brewster winning the title shortly afer his trainer passed.

    Damn, I was way off.

As for Etienne...I don't really see the Hollywood movie there. Or with Ike Ibeabuchi or Jo-El Scott for that matter.

I guess i still don't see it. Forgot about his trainer dying... that certainly adds a bit of movie drama. Don't know what is so special about him to be honest... he beat Wladimir (meh), maybe Corrie Sanders should get a movie too.

Sanders was White and South African, and Tom Selleck is really really old, so, not much scope for a movie there.

Well, it's up to the writing and everythig else to develop the relationship between Brewster and Slayton and translate that to the big screen.

Have you ever heard Brewster talk about the relationship?

    Tapia without a doubt.

Just reading what happened to this guy as a kid when his mom was killed and all the crazy shit he went through. It's amazing that he survived but managed to somehow put together a decent boxing carreer.

He has alot of demons he never managed to get over but the guy is still a fighter and I would love to see a move about him.

Depends what fights they use...and how many. Trinidad fight would be alright...Tarver...if he wins the title against Pascal they could do that.

But heres' the thing, seeing as those fights weren't that long ago, I don't see the point in making a movie about Hopkins if they're just going to focus on fights.

If they're going to make a serious movie, it's got to focus on more than just what happened in the ring.

You asked: what movie about a boxer would you like to see. You might thing I'm being a petty asshole in doing so, but I will analyze your question nonetheless, and comment on its significance.

First of all, you ask, "What movie about a boxer..." You seem to be asking, of the movies that exist about a boxer, which do you want to see?

What you should've said, what you would've said if you knew how to properly translate your thoughts into words would've been, "which boxer shoul'd they make a movie about?" Of course, if you said it this way, you'd have to answer for who, "they" are, and in turn you'd have to concede that you're basically an ass-sitting sponge to do such a thing.

Take this topic and shove it up your ass.

    lol@double L

I automatically thought of "Deebo" from "Friday," though he's a lot older now I'm sure.

Duran is the obvious pick for me. I'm surprised nobody said Erik Morales, I bet he has a hell of a life story. Tapia's .. I dunno, I think it'd get repetitious with all the OD'ing.
