That thread comparing the resumes of Roy and Hopkins made me think how would Hop do against Roy's best wins ?

Prime Hopkins moves up and fights John Ruiz of the Roy Jones fight

Prime Hopkins versus the 1994 version of James Toney that Roy fought

Prime Hopkins versus Montell Griffin that Roy fought

Prime Hopkins versus Virgin Hill that Roy fought

 

Wow. The mere THOUGHT of Hopkins vs Hill puts me to sleep.

 

I'd take Hopkins over Hill and Griffin without hesitation. It's hard to say how he'd do against Ruiz, having never seen him that high in weight. Hopkins/Toney at 168 would have been a very interesting fight too. Tough one.

Hill beats Hopkins. Too tall, too long, too many jabs, too hard for Bernard to spoil with.

Hopkins beats Griffin.

At 200, Hopkins loses to Ruiz. Anybody who was strong enough to shake Hopkins off and not allow him to cheat can beat him.

 

Hopkins wouldn't have to cheat if Nady were refereeing. Everytime Ruiz got close, Jay would break them, just as he did RJJ and Ruiz, so that Hopkins speed, and not Ruiz's strength, would be the primary factor in the fight.

RJJ/Ruiz was a complete scam.
