I'm sure Whitaker would've beaten Castillo, but it would not have been easy for him, by any means. And he surely would've needed both of his hands.
Uh, I'd say not. There were many fighters inferior to Castillo who managed to win rounds against Whitaker. There's a contingent around here that is positively in love with Whitaker, to the point of over-rating him that someone who had never watched him fight would be convinced he were superman.
I am probably one of the few here that truly believe that floyd jr is one of the most talented fighters of all time. I think he is gifted That said.... Pea I'D give the edge to Floyd has more POP in his shots but Pea is just so so so so good... I gotta go Pea
I think Whitaker wins close decisions in all divisions. They're both close to evenly matched, with Mayweather having more pop (although Pea did have some respectable power in his left), but I think Whitaker's jab and workrate would be the difference.
This is a tough call. I'd take Floyd at 147, Pea at 135, and 140 is a toss-up. Very competitive fight.
he beat Jose Luis Ramirez, who was better than Castillo, with one hand the first time around by 9-3 or at worst 8-4... the second time, with two hands he beat him 12-0 Castillo would be bamboozled Whitaker is simply one of the all time greatest boxers, you can try and alter history all you want, the evidence is there, you cant make it dissappear... Whitaker is as proven as a fighter can be
Floyd would beat him pretty clearly. Way better puncher, better combinations, better accuracy. Whitaker just had speed and defense and IQ, Floyd has those things too, but with great offense as well. At 135, it wouldn't surprise me if Floyd hurt and knocked him down in the fight.
Floyd would win a close fight imply because Whitaker's edge in defense is so minimal whereas Floyd's edge in power is significant. Everything else is equal.
You would toss Whitaker's salad if given the chance and so I wouldn't expect anything else from you. However, objective observers know what i said is true.
You're beginning to sound that that old constipated poster, what's his name again? Ah yes...Broadwayjoe. I'm objective. Put it this way...I'm no less objective that people who automatically praise the fighters that it's acceptable to praise. I see talent in fighter who others hate as well as teh popular guys. It's just that if anyone is a fan of Floyd, they are ridiculed, because Floyd is hated. But if someone is a fan of Leonard, Robinson, pep, Armstrong, Duran..it's ok. That's not objectivity that's just ACCEPTABLE bias.
I agree with your point about every era having their own acceptable biasments, in fact that was very well put by you. I'd pick Whitaker here though, but it would be very close
Shut it, Stafford. You are nowhere near objective. And it's amusing to see you try to claim you are. You are the KING of groupies.
please. If I showed the same "groupieness" towards Duran, Robinson or someone of that nature you'd have no comment to make. You just hate Floyd and denigrate most contemporary fighters. Therefore it is you that are not objective. Hypocrite.
Nope, you are wrong yet again. Your fan boy slant is plain for all to see. Which is why other forum members (not just me) give you shit about it as well. Personally, I think Floyd and both his Dad and Brother are douchebags of the highest magnitude, but that never stops me from being aware of what skills Floyd has. I've stated more than once that if Floyd had the stones to fight Manny Pac, he would win. I could have gone the easy route and picked Manny because he is a more appealing fighter in many ways, but I didn't. So as usual, you are talking out of your ass in your attempt to be a groupie and deny it at the same time.
:: Have it your way. I'm no more a "groupie" of Floyd, Hopkins or Tyson, than some guys here are of Duran, Robinson, and Whitaker. It's merely more acceptable to be fans of the latter. Now run along..
dude, I think I've been pretty fair to Floyd Mayweather Its not about who I LIKE better Ray Leonard makes me sick to my stomach, but you would never know it by my analysis of him as a fighter
And dude (I'm not targeting you in particular btw), I don't like Floyd as a person, but I admire him as a fighter. I very much like Mickey Ward and Shane mosley, but as fighters I've discussed their limitations. So I'm no different.
Of course, Floyd beats every fighter in the world currently fighting, but gets slaughtered in the majority of his MM. Wouldn't want to make a prediction on a fight that might actually happen now would we?
