if you look at the two fights and ignore the post fight test, toney beat the shit out of ruiz worse than jones did.

Pac vs. Hatton was pretty good. Considering Hatton was undefeated at 140, pac just came in and fucked him up in two rounds.

No way. At one point in the fight I thought Toney was going to get stopped.

Ruiz sounded like a kazoo in the post fight interview after Jones busted him up.

Ruiz/Toney was a back and forth fight. Ruiz/Jones was a boxing clinic.

Are you kidding? Toney fucked Ruiz up man.

Roy VISIBLY WOBBLED Ruiz on Several Occasions AND Busted his Nose Up...Moreso, Ruiz Actually TRIED to ATTACK Roy, During the First 3-4 Rounds of their Fight....w/Out Question, Roy Jones Beat a BETTER, YOUNGER, More CONFIDENT Version of Ruiz than Toney Took Steroids to "Beat"....

i dunno about younger, better, steroids or any of that.

but toney gave ruiz a worse whipping than jones did. jones dominated and won without getting hit much, but toney just beat the shit out of ruiz

He took steriods to heal. He was fool to take the fight. If i remember correctly, he took the fight on short notice or the fight was moved up from the original date. He thought the stuff would be out of him for his torn muscle by the time the fight happened.

Floyd UD Mosley. Mosley is a multi-division world champion and a pound for pound great and Floyd made him look like a rusty 40 year old!

    Floyd over Hatton.

Erik Morales wasn't Erik Morales either. He just got his ass kicked by MAB a couple of months earlier. Going into the fight everybody figured Pac would destroy Morales and Morales whupped his ass.

His resume at 140 was garbage. Bar Zoo he never fought anybody.

Pac was crying and complaining like a 13 year old girl after the bout.

Agreed, it´s not like Toney was caught again five fights later. Both cheats.

    A) Only because he was a fat ass who didn't train. Yet he still managed to do exactly what Jones did.

    B) So what? That only made it more impressive at the time, not with the perspective of hindsight. Ruiz hadn't declined one iota and was at his natural fighting weight

    C) Not true. He won by an almost identical margin and looked more composed doing so.

OK for talking's sake, I'll concede the point that Jones' win was marginally more impressive. But doesn't the fact that a 24 carat degenerate with a mummy tummy and all the training application of an Irish bare knuckle contender managed to do EXACTLY the same thing, against a John Ruiz who had only shown signs of improvement in the 3 intervening fights.....doesn't that pesky event confound the argument that Jones' victory is the greatest of the entire decade?

Because, if we're gonna be honest with the facts, we'd have to make James Toney's the 2nd greatest of the decade.

Off the top of my head

    Tarver/Roy

    then maybe Pac / Hatton

He was still the champ and undefeated in that weight division. Pac jumping weight and treating hatton like a tomato can was great.

Pac gets credit for beating Hatton but Floyd doesn't??? Floyd beat Hatton when he was top 5 P4P.

Agreed. But I'm not talking about Morales/Pac. I mean Ruiz/Jones CAN'T be the win of the decade, not in my eyes, when Pacquiao has weight jumped more impressively than Roy did. Nothing to do with Morales.

Yeah, maybe top 10. Maybe. But not the greatest.

Seriously though, Toney doesn't apply here. Right or wrong, he didn't get the win, and that's kind of a prerequisite for this thread.

And what is this anti-inflamatory BS? Toney tested positive for Stanozolol.

    You don't understand the difference?

  28. Joe King

Joe King WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

The difference is that Pac made Hatton go down in weight after he was KTFO by PBF.

Made Hatton go down in weight.

That is not true. Roach viewed Hatton as no threat at all. He was not worthy of ridiculous demands. Ricky could have asked Manny for Manchester.
