Yes. My doormen go through a training period where they shadow an experienced doorman and are required to meet every tenant. If my doorman ever asked for my ID, he'd be fired before the day is out.

If a guest comes, my doorman calls and asks if it is ok to let me up.

I worked as a doorman for years putting myself through school and I never signed anything like that.

This has nothing to do with the thread topic but i've never had a doorman and just wondering how things work.

Is it not possible to move into a building without meeting the doorman? What if the "usual" guy is sick or you didn't actually move in when you rented the place?

Do doorman "have" to take messages. I know they're not receptionists but if somebody calls or comes by and says something innocent like "Can you tell Jack i stopped by?"

Where you live and where floyd lives are two seperate places. That isnt a door man. That is a security guard. And there is no way he has met everyone in that Community of hundreds of people, possibly a thousand including the kids. I use to live in oakwood apartments in Cali, which is fucking huge. We use to have keycard to get into gate. But if we didnt have it, the security would have to let us in. He would ask for ID, what room we were in, and cross check it with the list he had.

It sounds unlikely that he'd know everyone. Arben appears to be implying that even if the guard didn't recognise Floyd, he should still have let him in unchecked.

That's more likely to get him fired than actually doing his job IMO.

It's very possible, but it is very rare. Most buildings make sure that a more veteran staff member at the helm when somebody moves in. If someone gets a place in my building, they can't just move in whenever they please. They have to schedule it.

Doormen don't have to take messages, but must do. They want their tips on christmas! lol

Fucking immature Floyd. Paco would never react this way, hell he would probably introduce himself to the guard via song.

Wow, a place with a doorman sounds hideous. What a lack of privacy.

I have 171 units in my building. Our tenants include people in media, people in politics, major magazine editors, powerful lawyers, and then average doctors and such. None of them have ever had to show ID. My doormen not only know the people in my building, but also in the building across the street which is twice the size, and most people on the block. Down the street from my building is a prominent synagogue where the current prime minister of Israel is a member. Occasionally, when the president is in town and has dinner at one of the super rich households on fifth avenue or park avenue, a sniper team sets up on my roof. Security is a very serious concern in my building, but none of our tenants have ever had to show ID to the staff.

My building staff does not compare to that of a basic security crew of an apartment complex that pays them twelve bucks an hour.

That being said, my building doesn't deal with the same type of people that are in Mayweather's community either. Of the thousands spent on community maintenance each month, things are much different. None of them should have to show ID to get into their own home. But I was in a similar community recently. Even more gaudy, actually. Over in west palm beach, my close relatives own a beach front hotel. I was there the week just before Christmas. They have a house down the street from the owner of the redskins, saudi royals, rush limbaugh, steelers owner, the family that owns johnson and johnson, etc... There's an 85 million dollar spec house just down the street from them. When I stayed at my cousins place, they never once showed ID, and it would never be expected of them.

I'm not saying that. I wasn't very clear. I'm just defending floyd's outburst. I'd do the same thing. The guard wasn't wrong for asking for ID. But if someone was on staff that didn't know who lived in the homes that he was working for, then a supervisor or someone else should have been present.

Floyd does dumb shit more often than not. This isn't one of those times.

A married woman walked into the building with another man, and as she walked through she was talking to him but kind of loudly emphasized that he was the family doctor and they were scheduling an appointment. The elevators in that building had cameras, and I knew something was up, and sure enough they start making out and she's giving him a handjob on their way up to the penthouse.

The head of the board's wife trying to invite me, at the tender age of sixteen, up to her place to fuck. She was too ugly to nail. Sometimes, women come on to the staff. It's usually random and after a night out. lol I had one good opportunity with a really good looking girl, but I was pretty loyal to a chick at the time and didn't capitalize. I really regret it. I still see the girl and she gives me a sexy ass look like, "You could have had this...." What a sucker I was.

A nanny that would wait for the kids to come back from day camp. She'd wear a loose tank top with no bra and do some stupid stretching exercises that would always result in her boobs popping out. She wouldn't flirt or anything. She'd never respond to anyone flirting with her. She just seemed to like having guys wait for her goods to pop out.

A french house sitter going out, getting wasted, coming home with some guy. I was obviously creeping on the security system and watched as this dude plows her right in the elevator like a world champ. And it wasn't even while they were on their way up. They reached their floor, the door opens, and they end up halfway in the elevator and halfway in the hallway of their floor. The door is there trying to close, and it keeps slamming into the girl's side, but they don't care.

Routinely catching a co-worker sniffing the dirty undies of some hot chick.

A drunk Chuck Schumer down the street leaving a restaurant. He wasn't trashed or anything. He was shouting goofy shit. I thought it was cool, because it was obviously a guys night out and he didn't seem like the prick that he usually seems like on TV.

Girls who didn't work during the day and I never knew what they did, and then , when working the night shift, I found out that they were escorts.

A gay dude that was 88 years old and could barely walk routinely having 21 year old guys come up to his place.

Me working the overnight shift, locking all the doors, and doing nothing but getting laid in the super's office all night. Those were the best paychecks. haha

Oh, most tenants have spare keys with the doorman. Sometimes when they'd go away on vacation, I found out that one of the doormen would go there and sleep or have lunch in their apartment. That shit was fucked up. He wasn't there for much longer.

That's what sort of boggles my mind Arben. Floyd acted like a little fuckin' baby who was late getting his bottle.

I'm not quite sure why you would emulate that, or think that's acceptable in any situation.

If they really did know Floyd, and were just fuckin' with him, his past behavior towards them probably had something to do with it. You can't treat people like shit all the time and expect them to just roll over for you whenever you want them to. Even poor schmuck security guards making 12 bucks an hour.

I'm not saying that Floyd was being nice. Or that I'm right for being pissed if I was in that situation. But I would do that too if I couldn't go into my home that I've lived in for years. And my life is far from hectic.

And if I lived in a home worth millions, and paid thousands of dollars every month to maintain the private community that I live in (As well as the security guard's paycheck), I'd be pissed too.

When I worked in South Africa, our group of guys rented out a house within a gated community in which we would drive through a manned gate each day. We each had key-fobs which would open the gate for us, but if we ever forgot it then we'd have to speak with the security guard and they would have to phone someone to make sure we were allowed entry. I think this is quite normal as these security guards cannot possibly know every single person living in such a large community on top of all of the renters who come and go. Very immature of Floyd to go off on a guy who was just trying to do his job.

Yup. Thats what arben doesnt understand. What if they were kicked out of the Community? What if there is a restraining order against someone in the community. There are MANY resons for them to check on something like an ID. again this is a huge complex.

Pac would only open the gate for residents who weigh between 144 and 145 1/2 Lbs.

HOA files lawsuit against Mayweather, over this issue and several others

    http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=5996392&campaign=rss&source=BOXINGHeadlines

LAS VEGAS -- A Las Vegas homeowner association wants a judge to force Floyd Mayweather Jr. to follow its rules and to order the boxing champion to stop threatening its employees.

Southern Highlands Estates filed a complaint Tuesday in Clark County District Court seeking $10,000 in damages and an injunction against the 33-year-old Mayweather.

Mayweather bought a more than 12,000-square-foot home for $9.5 million in the gated community about 10 miles south of the Las Vegas Strip in May 2009.

The Las Vegas Sun reports the injunction would require Mayweather to stay inside his vehicle, show identification and refrain from threatening and harassing security at the community entrance.

Mayweather was arrested Dec. 16 on a misdemeanor battery complaint for allegedly poking a security guard in the face outside his home. Mayweather's attorneys have denied wrongdoing on his behalf.

The lawsuit alleges that Mayweather has "repeatedly engaged in hostile, harassing and threatening behavior toward and against certain employees and security personnel employees...including but not limited to, threatening the life of a patrol officer, physically accosting a security officer, refusing to provide identity to gate officers" since October.

The suit also alleges that Mayweather refused to obtain a transponder to gain access to the community and has refused to place identification decals on his vehicles.

Mayweather, who goes by the nickname "Money," is one of the world's richest and most recognizable boxers, with 25 knockouts in his 41 wins. He earned more than $20 million in May from a single fight in Las Vegas against "Sugar" Shane Mosley.

He has been hounded in recent years by allegations of violence and confrontations at home and at Las Vegas clubs.

Mayweather has misdemeanor battery and assault convictions in Las Vegas and his hometown of Grand Rapids, Mich., and is facing a felony coercion, grand larceny and robbery case stemming from a September dispute with his children and their mother at her home.

He faces trial Jan. 24 in that case and could face up to 34 years in prison if convicted.

So it's as we were speculating. FM being a douche and expecting everyone to know who he is. Being one of the most recognisable faces in boxing doesn't mean as much as it used to.
