42 I really, really liked this movie and this is truly amazing because is a movie about a baseball legend. Particularly since I utterly despise baseball...heck I can't even stand to watch the trailer for "The Natural". But the story of the first black player in the all white major league is compelling. Great performances by all the cast and in particular Harrison Ford as the Dodgers team owner, Branch Rickey, who gives the best performance of his long career (deserves an Academy Award nomination IMO). Sure, the film tends to portray Jackie Robinson as a true hero with little character faults, but I prefer this approach instead of the opposite Hollywood trend to demonize figures we admire. 42 is more a film about racism in America told through the eyes of a great baseball player. An excellent film ten times better than anything playing at movie theaters this summer. 9.5/10

Sounds interesting. On IMDB the movie only gets a 7,5. Pacific Rim is rated higher.

Of course! Southern rednecks hated this movie. It made them look...lacking tolerance?
