Don't know how good he will be. It's nice to hear he's a gym rat and all but he doesn't seem to be improving anywhere and stepping up his game. He seems too 1 dimensional to me. He has no foot movement no defense. All he is is a speedy brawler, kind of a poor mans Meldrick Taylor. I'm pretty tired of watching him fight the same caliber of limited canon fodder that winds up looking no different than his last fight. I mean honestly, can anyone tell the difference between this fight and his last 3 or 4 other than the fact that he got dropped once? :dunno: He needs to step up his competition and see how he does against someone who won't get intimidated by handspeed.
I wouldnt worry about that. There are precious few people out there today that could beat ANY version of Taylor. Except Floyd. He would school Taylor.
The Thing is, there's Not Many YOUNG Welters Out There...Not Many Welterweight PROSPECTS... If Berto is PATIENT, he could Potentially DOMINATE the Next Wave of Welters...But if him & DiBella R AMBITIOUS, he'll End Up LOSING by Challenging the CURRENT Era of Welters... Very Good OFFENSIVE Skills (REED is Particularly IMPRESSED by the Effectiveness of Berto's JAB, Despite Being SHORT), but his Defense & CHIN R STILL Major Questions... Kellerman's Meldrick Taylor Analogy is Spot-On...Berto ISN'T as Naturally TALENTED as Taylor, but the Comparisons R ACCURATE... REED
I took that more as an off balance shot. He wasn't hurt or nothing when it happened. Still he better hope he does have a good chin since his calling card is a brawler.
Don't totally remember. I'm pretty sure it happened at the end of the rd too so that helped. Maybe he was hurt a bit but I know he wasn't fucked up. At any rate their all bums so who knows how he'll be when he steps it up.
I don't know man,but that guy he fought last night was a complete fucking bum!! I mean, that dude ranks up their with Hakkar's permormance against BHop!! I mean,he knew he could punch back, didn't he??:dunno:
Tam is right, Berto was pretty damn hurt against Rivera. Got hit by an uppercut he never saw coming if I remember right.
cosme rivera aint exactly a murderous puncher. his power is more on par with wilfredo rivera than even jose rivera.
here it is........ <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/PQK0QW6FSRQ&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/PQK0QW6FSRQ&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
if he keeps fighting the trabants of the world, there's no telling how far he can go. time for him to step up.
If Cintron can be a champion at 147 in this era I'm sure the future looks good for Berto. Berto is a good fighter and has alot of upside.
Incredibly athletic, but I fear that he is indeed just a speedy slugger with a questionable chin. He doesn't strike me as a particularly intelligent fighter (although it is pretty hard to set traps against a guy who isn't throwing back). But he didn't really use any feints or throw shots to the body to get trabant to drop his hands a bit. Definitely exciting to watch, but in this current landscape, I don't think he can make it to that elite level on his athletic ability alone.
