Was Carwin exposed as a Sokoudjou in the Brock fight, some dude who, if you can stand up to his early assault, will crumble ??? In fact, he may not even be a Sokoudjou, as Mir and Gonzanga weren't as good as Nog and Arona. And considering he's already in his mid 30's. does he have time to improve ???
Sokoudjou had a few suspect losses earlier in his career. Carwin, however, did not have the experience of Sokoudjou. Carwin is a wrestler with heavy hands whereas Sokoudjou was a judo practitioner with a tae kwon do background. As far as gas tanks go, there's evidence there might be some similarity, but Carwin has been shown to come back from getting hurt (Gonzaga nailed him with three bombs and then took him down). Sokoudjou---once he was hurt---he was done. I think we need a few more performances before we can make the comparison.
It really depends on Carwin and what he's learned from the Lesnar fight. Obviously Carwin has huge power and he has great wrestling skills. He also has the size to go along with it. But it from the Lesnar loss he learns patience and learns to be able to access his situation better, he'll become a better fighter. Against Lesnar, he had him hurt, but when he was GnPing him, he had to realize that his shots were being defended and he was wearing himself out. Had he paused for a second, stood up and forced the ref to stand Lesnar back up, he may have been able to KO him, or at least hurt him more to a point where the GnP could've stopped the fight. Carwin has the physical tools, let's see if he has the mental tools. TFK
Did anyone else notice Carwin was a bit fat in his fight against Brock? Almost like he put too much weight on. He seemed very soft.
He did look much less ripped than in previous bouts. I guess he figured he needed the weight to avoid being bulled around by the larger, heavier Brock.
