I know you can't take them as gospel, but they look accurate to me - and the fact that Manny did land a few more punches was the deciding factor for me, in the rounds I gave him. It's basically how I scored the fight 7 to 5 for Manny. Certainly something to think about for those that think Marquez was actually robbed. </PRE>http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/pacman-had-edge-in-stats-101802
To be honest with you it doesn't seem like EITHER of them landed that many, it was a pretty boring fight. But I did at least see Manny landing a few more in 7 of the rounds which is how I came to that score. I was also pretty shocked that Marquez was not getting obliterated, and at one point gave him 3 rounds in a row (5, 6, 7 I think) but ultimately I did feel Manny did that little bit more in 7 of the rounds.
I agree. They seemed really fishy last night, especially with the Alvarado-Prescott fight. It seems the new law is you don't just pay off the judges and the ref but compubox too.
No it isn't, they are their own company, and they basically provide their service on a freelance basis it seems. http://compuboxonline.com/bio.php
Their faces pretty much backup my perception that Pacquiao landed more punches and harder punches. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have been shocked if Marquez got the decision, but I felt Pacquiao did just about enough, however unimpressive it was. The one argument that favours Marquez is that he absolutely fought his fight, it was him that managed to shut down Manny's offensive to a large degree rather than vice versa, but be that as it may, I'll still score the round for the guy that looked to land more.
Come on dude, you know better than that. Some guys faces are more susceptible to damage then others, plus age could play a factor too. You might be right, but I'd no more use that line of argument to back it up then I would compubox numbers. I agree Marquez probably lost due to a lack of aggression and output, but to be honest I didn't totally score the fight, just a few rds. I knew Marquez wasn't going to win though.
The thing is, both guys said that this fight would finally answer questions and put this matchup to sleep, but yet, it hasn't.
I know that's a shaky one too, but to me they both have fairly resilient faces, so that's somewhat telling. In the 2nd fight I think they looked equally bashed. Jimmy - I agree, there was nothing answered, it was as unclear as the rematch really.
I thought Pacquiao edged it, but I didn't take Compubox into the equation. If you went by Compubox then Tony Thompson beat Wladimir Klitschko
