David Morrell

Thoughts on David Morell? Do you see this guy becoming a big name at some point?

He’s already calling out David Benavidez to challenge him after KOing Falcao and seems really confident in his abilities despite having on 9 fights. I’d like to see him take on Canelo and Benavidez sometime in the future. So far from what we’ve seen he can really do it all in the ring, he just needs to continue stepping up in competition.

 

A class talent. Maybe even A+. Doubt he'll ever be a star though as most big names will avoid him imo and I don't feel he's too marketable

I think Shakur, Boots, and Morrell are the three best young southpaws in the sport.

As for becoming a star? Highly doubtful. When's the last time a Cuban was a big name?

Gavilan was probably the only Cuban boxer in history who was a real mainstream star.

 

Rodriguez is certainly among the best young southpaws. and more proven than them 3.

 

Jesse is up there, and it's sad that Ennis' career doesn't seem to be progressing.

Jesse I don't think is a generational talent the way Shakur is.

Morrell I think beats Benavidez pretty soon. Benavidez's best chance is to fight him in the Fall.

 

Don’t forget Robeisy Ramirez, that guy is very talented. He also beat Shakur in the Olympics.

 

Bam is a beast. Definitely the future of the little guys IMO.

I do think Morrell is a great talent, that is clear. I think he needs to work on that defence though, it might be because of the level he's operating at right now, but you don't want it to become a bad habit.

 

I know he fought a ham n egger that night, but he definitely looked better than Tank and Ryan

 

Bam got beat up really bad in his last fight.. don’t see how he can last long at the top if he takes that kind of punishment much.
