Has anyone been following this on YouTube? The fights are simulated on EA Sports Fight Night Champions game. The heavyweight tournament is already done and middleweights are in the quarterfinals now. SRR already fought Vargas and Hagler faced Pavlik. Today it's Leonard vs Winky and tomorrow Monzon vs LaMotta. Of course the fights are nothing like they would have been in real life but it's fun nonsense anyway and I'm actually waiting to see how the middleweight tournament ends. The heavies had a couple of surprises.
Nah, not really interested. I've just been passing the boxing hiatus time by watching old fights on YT - which I do weekly anyway, but just been ramping up on it.
Literally, REED Was Gonna Post Yesterday in Agreement w/X's Sentiment, Preferring to Rewatch Ol' YouTube Bouts and/or Some He Hasn't Seen Previously... REED's Reasoning was Gonna Be the Inevitability of a Mythical Matchup Playing Out in a Way that Pissed Him Off...And Then, On Cue, He Learned This SHAM of a Tournament Had Winky Wright KO'ing Ray Leonard in the 9th?! '60 Obviously WASN'T Leonard's Best Weight and the Wink is Crafty Enough to Give ANYBODY a Difficult Time, But a KO of Leonard???...The Wink WASN'T Even a KO Guy, Yet he KO's Sugar Ray Leoanrd???... Sooooo....Uuuuhm….Yeah, REED Ain't Fucking w/that Tournament... REED
Yeah, that was the dagger for me as well. As a Tyson fan, I also must say that Tyson OUTLASTING Ali and winning a decision was ridiculous. If you asked Mike HIMSELF if he could outlast Ali and drown him in deep waters I'm sure he'd say: "Fucccckkkkk no!"
I get that, but I try to distance these e-fighters from the actual fighters who just happened to have the same name and enjoy the unexpected. More often than not they have gotten the results correct too, even though the fights don't look like actual boxing at all. I too watch past fights regularly, but the fact that you know the results beforehand kills some of the fun. In this harmless nonsense you get that part, even though you lose the historical value
Speaking of which, maybe we should all share which old fights we're rewatching on YT. Last night I watched two: Frank Tate vs Michael Olijidae. I hadn't watched this fight in maybe 8-10 years. I have it on VHS somewhere, but glad I could find it on YT. Good fight, and great performance by Tate. He was really never that good again. Also, I re-watched Mike Spinks vs Vonzell Johnson. Just to be reminded by how much of beast Spinks was at 175.
Wright all juiced up from the trinidad fight would give an older, middleweight leonard from the hagler fight problems. You gotta be talking about Leonard from the Camacho fight to think Wright could Ko him.
Winky peaked in the first Mosley fight... that was his apex performance. That version of Wright would probably give the 87 Leonard a tough fight, though ultimately still drop a decision. Even Wright at his VERY BEST is still a step below a faded Hagler.
Especially in the "Social Distancing", "Quarantining" Era, You Can Get a Pretty Good Idea of What REED's Been Rewatching Based on the Video's He's Posted... REED
In the fight Ali went down twice, after which he was spent. I believe he had received fractured ribs or some other injuries which held him back
Last night oddly enough was Livingstone Bramble night for me. I re-watched Bramble-Mancini I, and Bramble vs Crawley. Bramble was a damn good fighter in his EXTREMELY brief prime. After Rosario KO'd him, he was never the same again. Not that a second round KO ruined him physically, but Rosario probably forever cracked his confidence, and that's all it takes to end a prime.
I was wondering what that childish shit in my facebook feed was. It was so silly I made 2 comments one about Tyson wouldn't make it to the finals in any heavyweight tournament and that Monzon was way too big for both Jake and Hagler.
Apparently Marvin Hagler or someone close to him complained about including him to the tournament. which is why eHagler retired and eLaMotta took his place in the semi-finals against eRobinson
I won't happen, LaMotta is dead. At least I think so, since Robinson violently knocked him out this morning!
Is This True???... REED Knows Hagler Was "Mad" @ Boxing After the Loss to Leonard, and Moved to Italy...But That's QUITE a Grudge He's Still Holding if He Took the Time to Have Someone Complain About his Inclusion in the WBSS Mythical Tournament... Let it GO Marvelous Marvin, Let it GO!!! REED
Boxinscene mentioned it, while giving a vivid ringside report of Robinson vs LaMotta WBSS Fantasy Tournament: Sugar Ray Robinson Blasts Jake LaMotta in Seven
The only one eWBSS I watched more than two mins of was Hagler vs Pavlik, which ended with Marv knocking Pavlik cold in 8. I do feel that Hagler would have stopped Pavlik in a real fight, but doubtful it would have been by clean KO. I think he would have sliced Kelly to ribbons and won on cuts.
Kelly would have had a few moments. I saw him in an early fight in Houston that was non-televised before he hit it big I was on the ring apron. Extremely intimidating and big middleweight.
