Just finished watching and oh boy this is the first major misstep in the Marvel tv franchise.

Iron Fist is a comic I did actually read a bit and this bears little resemblance. For a start the guy who plays Danny Rand is miscast badly. IF is supposed to be one of the greatest fighters in Marvel and they cast a bird chested man boy. I'm not kidding, this guy has the shoulder breadth of a woman. They try to butch him up by having him sport a beard the whole series. Very intimidating.

He spends 90% of the series brooding about his parents and proclaiming he never loses a fight. You won't see much of that though because he doesn't get in a lot of fights and he certainly doesn't look like a great fighter as he skins through fights with nobodies.

By the end of the series, he has all he can handle with a businessman armed with a gun. Say what you will about Luke Cage's final fight being against Mr Purnsley in a gay suit, IF running from Gordon Gecko is far worse. This from a character that is supposed to be so fast and skilled that he can snatch bullets from the air. One of the most unsatisfactory endings ever quickly follows.

It seems that the success of Daredevil, JJ and the decent Luke Cage lulled the writers into thinking they could write a slow burn series and fans would love it. Huge error for mine - this series is an interminable bore with little to recommend.

One good surprise was the guy who plays Ward Meecham. Did a very good job portraying a very flawed character.

I dunno outside of that. I guess the girl who plays Colleen is hot. That's a plus.

On its own, IF doesn't deserve a second season. It's shit. I'll see what they do with the Defenders. If it follows the comics I had at some stage Danny Rand marries Misty Knight so maybe they will pair LC and IF as the Heroes for hire as both shows' second season.

If you haven't watched any of these, Daredevil is a great show. Jessica Jones was good and Luke Cage was OK. Iron fist isn't worth anyone's time. His TV incarnation is a one note whining dumbass whose plans consist of: run in and punch it, then brood until dinner time. If he feels like it, he might quote the worlds worst fortune cookies.

He's a great fighter though, just ask him. Don't expect to see it.

The Genius - we alteady got a thread up about Iron-Fist - pretty much agree with everything you said though...after a boring start I thought it was getting going around Episodes 4-6 then it nosedived again.

    And yeah, miscast to fuck...!

Awesome review G. Very well written and well detailed with a nice funny ending. I never planned on watching this as I refuse to watch any of the Marvel or D.C. tv series with this one at least it looks like I definitely made the right choice.

Daredevil is worth watching. I liked JJ and LC too. This one is awful.
