The problem with this type of thread (although very good) is the very few of us have the time to dedicate so much to one reply.

I'll skip to the semi finals:

    Mayweather vs Whitaker
    Duran vs Chavez

    Mayweather by close decision
    Duran by CLose decision

    Mayweather vs Duran

    Mayweather by close decision.

No surprises here in the land of loving and hating fighters

Sly picks Mayweather to win it all and Ugo doesn't even have Duran in the final 8.

Whitaker-Duran final is too cliche...it's nice that we've mixed it up a little.....

Whitaker-Duran final might be cliche.... but its what it would come down to.

Yup like Robinson will be P4P # 1 until the end of time.....

Lemme guess.... Floyd is P4P #1 of all time?

NO...but Robinson will be, most likely until an Asteroid wipes out the Earth.

Didn't you give me a wrap over the knuckles for doing just that with a few Dempsey fights?

Whitaker-Duran is what WOULD happen, Sly

Im taking Whitaker, I dont give a shit what anybody has to fucking say about it... Ive been arguing about it on these goddamn sites for 10 years, and for a good number of years before that on the phone and in cars and in someone's house... WHITAKER

and SRR is the P4P GOAT until someone comes along and clearly establishes themselves as his superior... if that takes until a fucking asteroid hits, then so be it

before there was SRR, there was Henry Armstrong and there was Benny Leonard before that and Harry Greb and Joe Gans

hey Sly, who's a better heavyweight all time than Muhammad Ali??? he retired nearly 30 years ago... you see anybody coming along better than him???

Ali is stilll the best I've seen....but that's not to say that someone couldn't come along that would be better.

Robinson was fast and powerful with a good chin, heart and stamina. But dude got hit way too much and could be outhustled (Lamotta, Turpin). Arguably the greatest fighter ever, I agree...but far from perfect. Lots of other guys have since come along with the tools to beat him pound for pound

(Ali, Jones, Mayweather to name just 3)

Whitaker-Duran is NOT what would happen cdogg.

Mayweather would have beaten Whitaker by close decision no doubt. Floyd's almost as elusive as whitaker and has a far superior offensive arsenal.

    Mayweather-Duran. End of matter.

I agree with you, but we are in a sizeable minority. IMO, Whitaker gets the best of Duran.

Whitaker's offense is the single most underrated of any fighter I can think of... he wasnt a KO puncher (at least not often) but he threw outstanding combinations and his jab is one fo the finest ever... Floyd's arsenal is no way, shape or form "far superior"

I have no problem with somebody picking Mayweather over Whitaker, but if you're absolutely convinced i find that "wrong".
