NOAH Watched this aberration last night and couldn't be more disappointed. Yes, I knew it was not going to be remotely close to the biblical tale, but I never imagined it was going to be so bloody corrupt. Is like the director, Darren Aranofsky, had some kind of agenda to demonized the character of Noah and insult all religions at the same time. SPOILERS: In this fantasy tale set in a strange planet not similar to the earth we know, the Watchers, giant stupid looking rock creatures that supposedly in the past were, dare we say...angels? or some other energy beings, help lunatic Noah (Russell Crowe) built the ark and battle human beings all in the name of 'saving the innocent'(animals). This Noah is an obsessed sociopath, the ultimate environmentalist who reprehends his little boy for pulling a flower, but has no qualms about killing people who hunt animals to survive starvation. This Noah even wants to kill his damned family! The film has so-so special effects that aren't there enough to distract us from the slow moving horrible movie we were watching. This 2 hours 14 minutes film felt like 3 and a half hours long. Emma Watson is too lachrymose and loud here. Anthony Hopkins as Methuselah looked as bored as in Thor. Little to see here, except Russell Crowe who is in almost every scene of the film.5/10

While Russell Crowe's makeup showed his aging, Jennifer Connelly hardly aged a day.

Reviews are very impartial. You probably might enjoy it, while a fundamentalist bible thumper fanatic like me got insulted and bored by it.

For some reason I can't edit the previous post: I meant 'reviews are very partial.'

It doesn't really make sense, though... Are you saying the film is an aberration compared to this director's other work? Is it an aberration compared to other films about Noah's Ark?

C'mon Clogg, we know YOU won't go and see it because it's based on a true story, and you HATE films based on true stories, right Clogg? :stir:

Myself, just based on Punchys review, I give it a 10 out of 10.

I haven't seen it, but anything that can rile up Punchy like that, must be a motherfucking masterpiece.

Aronofsky is a weird director. He is masterful in directing actors, meaning that he can bring the best out of them. He is also very good in visualizing things, especially Black Swan was great in that regard. However, he doesn't really say much new or original with any of his movies. Thus I don't expect ery much from this, apart of Noble's great point that since it pissed off panchy it must be pretty cool

Like I said, opinions are like arses: everybody has one. I knew it was going to be not faithful to the bible story, but I wasn't expecting how much fantasy elements were added plus that its pace was so slooooowww and depressing. This is Noah on crack. Sure, it has its moments, but not enough to rise above the 'so-so' level. But go ahead, buy the movie tickets an enjoy it, since it must be great.
