Are there any performances you feel don't get their proper acknowledgment? The one which inspired the thread was Robert Shaw as Quint in Jaws. I've never really heard any major praise for it but i really cant think of many better supporting performances.

    Any others?

Kevin Costner in "A Perfect World".

I think it's overlooked as perhaps Costner's best performance and also Clint Eastwoods best directorial performance aside from "Unforgiven".

    IMO anyways.

There was never much buzz about this movie, but it's definitely one of my personal favorites.

Robert Shaw was fantastic in The Taking Of Pelham One Two Three

Kevin Bacon in "Murder in The First". I think he deserved an Oscar nomination for it.

In a similar vein. Both Kevin Bacon and Gary Oldman.......both playing against type in "Criminal Law".

He was actually more evil in TQATD than he was in Unforgiven. Great choice!

  13. word.

    Great performance.

DiCaprio in "Man in the Iron Mask"
    Woody Harrelson in "Indecent Proposal"
Al Pacino in the 1st Godfather film
Sean Connery in "From Russia with Love"
Fassbender in "Inglorious Basterds" (albeit a brief role)
Hackman in "Crimson Tide" (Best Hackman peformance IMO)

  14. I still have to see this film. You recommended it before. I must remember next time. I can't imagine him being more evil than he was in Unforgiven.

  15. Ensure you get the 1974 version with Walter Matthau, Robert Shaw, Martin Balsam, Hector Elizondo, etc

Do NOT get the shitty 2009 remake by mistake.

He is probably more 'evil' there but the roles are also very different. In Unforgiven there is depth in his role while QATD is plain stupid

The Quick and The Dead is an underrated movie. I think you'd enjoy it. Its not as "good" a movie as Unforgiven. However, IMO it has much more rewatchability.

American Psycho isnt overlooked though. Its still to this day his most infamous role.

The Machinist isn't overlooked either really. It's pretty famous, and so is his performance.

  26. BOSS

    BOSS TBD

He lost like 185 pounds for that role. Guy is pretty damn dedicated.

American Psycho is a hilarious film... except when he kills the homeless guy and the poor dog.

If anything, Bale's most overlooked performance is The Prestige.

It's forgetten IMO. Nobody talks about it much. same as with American Pyscho. Those two roles should be talked about more.
