What year did they officially implement in the 24 hour weigh in, as opposed to the day of weigh-in? Its something Ive wondered about for awhile, it was sometime in the late 80's prob right?

I believe it was done in the 80's around the same time they made other changes such as decreasing fights to 12 rounds, but i'm not sure exactly when it was done.

not sure, but i know that the last 15 round scheduled fight was in 88'. IBF was the last to have 15 round fights. i think it might have been simon brown vs. tyrone trice.

I thought Jorge Paez-Calvin Grove was the last 15 round fight.

In 1982 the WBA made the change to 12 rounders after the Ray Mancini vs Duk Koo Kim fight. Kim was killed in that fight. All other sanctioning bodies made the change by 88.

Just looked it up. Google is a wonderful thing. I couldn't find when the same day weigh ins stopped.

Wasn't it after the Mancini-Kim tragedy? Wasn't that also when they pushed to eliminate 15 rounders?

I don't know if the weigh-ins had anything to do with Mancini-Kim but i believe the elimination of 15 rounders was largely based on Mancini-Kim.
