James Caan does his damnedest to make it work but the film is ridiculous

Rollerball is an okay movie, but far from excellent. It is not even considered a classic scifi film. The remake sucked balls big time and made the original look much better than it is.

'Death Race 2000' actually - and that was cheap, shoddy and not serious on any level.
At least 'Rollerball' comes out with a message and pre-dates modern sport by what, 30 years?

 

Watching it as a kid in Houston was dynamic as they were the champions in the movie.

Caan came out here for the premiere and rode a rodeo horse around the barrels to get pr for the film as he was a pro at it.
