BBC version with Cumberbatch and Freeman.

I enjoyed the first few seasons, but season 3 was disconcerting. Hopefully it hasn't jumped the shark, but I worry it has.

Aye, laddie, Ah was slightly perturbed ba all three o' the latest episodes masen... if they make anymore, hope they improve, like. That wedding one was awkward gash.

  3. Yeah it has.
Also has same screenwriters as Dr Who. :pathetic:

  4. Season 4 of this ´vehicle´ for Benedict Cumberbatch really IS ridiculous now.

An as an aside, its not nearly as good as Elementary starring Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu

  6. No fuckin idea why you're face-palming.

It's clearly a better show, closer to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's stories and more importantly, far better charsctrr-development and relationships.

Sherlock just appeals to middle-aged, sexless women swooning over Cumberbatch...

I have to say season 4 has been underwhelming

I started watching on a strong recommendation from someone, but after the 1st 2 episodes Im struggling to like it at all. Sherlock is just too much of a dry dick and the plots somehow lack the buildup of mystery that I would hope for, instead playing more like an action/spy show that I generally dont like.

I find myself comparing it to Dexter in a lot of ways, and just coming up short on everything from characters and plot to comedy and scenery. Maybe I'll try 1 more episode, but I really cant see anything changing.

lol I'm pretty sure thats who recommended the show to me...

  10. Ditto. I lasted 2 episodes and found it and the characters hugely irritating, annoying and smug.
The whole show, I admit is well made and written, but it also seems like the whole show is geared toward how brilliant Sherlock Holmes is....and not a lot else. Its totally setup so he can´t fail and is vastly superior to anyone else in the show.
The writers spend so much time twisting each mini-movie to fit a Sir Arthur Conan Doyle story and then waiting to be praised for how clever they are...

Give Elementary a try - its not perfect, but its way ahead of Sherlock in its character relationships and bringing an old story into modern-day.

Will do. I'm really a fan of mysteries but find it is one of the most underrepresented genres.
