Like he did after being embarrassed by Gilbert Melendez, Aoki retreated to the shitty opposition in Japan after getting thrashed in his rematch with Eddie Alvarez.

He has ripped off 4 wins in a row against relative nobodies.

He was recently offered a contract by the UFC but turned it down to remain fighting with "One Fighting Championship" in Asia.

Aoki again proves that he wants to continually be pushed and tested by the most mediocre opposition available.

He sucks. He's not even thread worthy. Did UFC really offer him a contract? I'm guessing it's strictly a business decision to make money off his popularity in their Japanese Market.

Aoki doesn't sucks, he's a solid (arugably top 10) if one dimensionnal fighter. But he now knows he ain't the top guy at lw so why go into the UFC to face tougher opposition for probably less money than he will make in One FC ??

I wonder how many subs could have been defended if he wasn't wearing the spandex pants.

Aoki got ripped off in his Metamorsis bout with Kron. Fun match though.

It is terrible what happened to the scene in Japan. Thank the Yakuza for that.

OneFC is trying but they are not DREAM. for certain...neither in card quality or location.

Lol, I just remembered Aoki was koed by a kickboxer but it isn't inluded in his recored because of the bouts special rules (one round kick boxing, one round mma). What is really funny though is that he was koed at the very start of the MMA round

No, Aoki isn't even within sniffing distance of the Top 10.

It is such a joke that he racks up wins against bottom tier opponents in Asia and guys like you think it earns a Top 10 spot.

I wonder if you are correct? If so, it would be stupid for a guy to increase his competition level to make less money, especially if his chances of hitting the jackpot and winning a UFC title are neglible. (and that's assuming he'd even make more as UFC champ than he is now)

Aoki, around 2007-2008 was the best lightweight on the planet, but I don't see him beating any Top 10 fighter today, especially without his silly pants.

Personally I think BJ Penn destroys Aoki in 2007-2008.

I don't think it would have even been competitive.

I'm not an aoki fan but in the ring, fighting in japan he beats just about any lightweight sans bj penn

Kawajiri beat Josh Thompson , a top 10 lw as of now, clean (so did Calvacante btw, he was robbed) yet he couldn't last a round with Aoki. Sure Aoki recent oppositions has been garbage (that's why I said he was arguably a top 10) but lightweight is far from a deep division.

LW is deep just not in Singapore at the moment.

Well, the bottom of the top 10 has guy's like Josh Thompson, Donald Cerrone, Gray Maynard and Nate Diaz. Don't think it's out of this realm to have Aoki in there.

We're talking about the top 10 TODAY.

Kawajiri and Calvacante both got thoroughly embarrassed in Strikeforce.

The bottom line is that Aoki has been completely dominated the last two times he faced Top 10 opponents (Melendez & Alvarez).

Again, Aoki shouldn't been mentioned in the same sentence with the top 10.

JZ has been past it years before setting foot in the US and Kawajiri completely dominated a guy who was being gifted a title shot in the UFC in 2013 mere months before being mashed up by Gil.

    It happens.
