Anyone seen this guy fight? Is he any good? He's ranked around 6 at light heavyweight 19-0, 18 KOs. Not much to look at on his record though.

i mean he looked real good vs gonzales, but gonzales was fighting at like 2/10th the ability he normally has

If gonzales didnt have a great chin he would have been out of there in the 2nd round or so

So he packs a punch huh? His record certainly indicates it. That's the first time Gonzales didn't last the distance as well right?

He's the IBF #1, making him next in line for Dawson's title.

It's near the top of my list for fights I'd like to see next year.

If he's any good maybe him & Dawson could clean out the division & build hype for a big fight in 2010 or 2011. No need to fight Dawson just yet

That's part of the beauty of the fight, though.

He wouldn't be taking the Andre Berto route to a title (if he won).

Honestly, REED Saw NATHAN Special about Cloud N the Gonzalez Fight...Sorry, but if Cloud's KO Ratio was Genuine, he'd have Gotten that Version of Gonzalez Out of there MUCH Soooooooner....

Honest, Hardworking , Pressure Fighter...Good CONDITIONING, or So it Seemed...But NATHAN That Makes REED think Cloud can Hang w/the Light Heavy ELITE...REED Gets LOWER Top 10ish Vibes from Cloud...

why doesn't Hopkins fight Dawson, or rematch Johnson? Johnson fits the bill - he's a blown up middle-weight nearly as old as Hopkins is.

Dawson would put a Taylor on Hopkins. Hopkins can't deal with hand-speed.

Cloud is an exciting looking fighter, but I didn't see anything special in him at all. Just a typical short, stocky, aggressive brawler. He has decent hand speed and power...thats about it.

Cloud is a rich man's Lacy. I'd give him a shot against Chad, because he can punch and Chad's chin aint the best, but most likely Dawson would box the hell outta him.

But before fighting Dawson, I think he should fight Chris Henry. That would be a thriller for sure, and the winner of that fight would deserve a crack at Dawson.

Dawson would actually beat Hopkins CLEARLY, something Taylor failed to do.

For one he fought a smart fight against Gonzalez. Lots of fighters would have punched themselves out. Gonzalez might have been a punching bag, but so was Ross Puritty. Cloud kept his composure. :crafty:

He alos has a pretty good stiff jab with which he sets up all his offense, which is a rarity today. At 175 he´ll be holding belts for a long time.

Hopkins is ofcourse, a natural Light-heavyweight, who could make middleweight,.. there are plenty of 'puffer-fish' bullies in boxing that capitalise on this thoroughly incompetant weight system, it is alarming how many times we see fighters move up and take on division incumbents and look irrefuteably taller, rangier, and thicker, it is really fucken screwed up.

That's why it was justly a bigger welter in Williams that beat him. The size difference in the Cotto fight was apparent.

i wouldn't say so. and Hopkins legitimately made 160 for a long time, some times coming in as light as 158. So you can't say he wasn't a middle-weight. But unlike Margarito, Hopkins had a much greater penchant for fighting guys moving up from lower weight classes.

Margarito on the other hand hasn't spent his time at 147 fighting 140 pounders. His competition for the most part has been full fledged welter-weights over whom he didn't enjoy a size advantage.

    Hopkins best wins at 160:

    former welterweight: ODH
    former welterweight: Trinidad

I don't think Hopkins should be criticized for making middleweight for so long. He was so well conditioned he could make the weight...and even come in light like he did against DLH.

Edit: I see Double wrote the same thing.

Sorry. Can't have it both ways. Cotto can't be weakened, chinny and weight-drained at 140, but be small at 147. He's short for a welterweight and that's probably why he'll never be great. But that doesn't mean he's smaller than Margarito. And it doesn't change the fact that most people picked him to beat Margarito either.

Cloud is good, most likely won't be great, but is also the type of fighter that will have a hard time lining up notable fights until he's either exposed or an established champion.

I've been high on him for a while, more so for the way he fights than any belief that he'll run the tables at LHW.

Cloud-Henry would be perfect for Shobox or even as a B.A.D or PPV undercard fight.

w/the Exception of Paul Williams, Margarito has Quite CLEARLY Been BIGGER than EVERY Welterweight he's EVER Faced...

Maybe you got something there, Jake.

You can hold that fight in a phone booth between Chris and him.

I am sure we'll all know a lot more after Feb 6th as Chris has a tough one ahead with Mack.

REED'll Grant U Cintron, but R YOU Gonna SERIOUSLY Sit Here & Act Like Margarito HASN'T Had a CLEAR-CUT Size ADVANTAGE Over the Rest of his Welterweight Opposition???...Outside of 1 or 2 Guys, WHO ELSE Is there???....

If we're Gonna PENALIZE Guys for MILKING the Loose Weigh-In Policies of Today, then Margarito Should B @ the FRONT of that Line...

margarito wasn't any bigger than clottey, martinez or perez. he was taller than clottey but that dude is strong as an ox and he's a far worse felon at the scales than margarito.
