I watched "The Deer Hunter" last night. Panchy would have entered into several coma's before that one was over.

I did when I watched it back in the day. It tried hard to be special, but it wasn't. Takakura Ken, who was awesome in Sidney Pollack's The Yakuza, was totally wasted here. And btw, The Deer Hunter is a great movie. I watched it twice at the theaters. That is the difference between greatness and pretentious.

 

So you watched it twice back in 1978. I dare you to watch it once right now. I guarantee you'll be passed out 45 minutes before the wedding is even over.

That was a good enough movie, but why did you choose that one specifically to make your point here? Pretty random.

So apparently it sucks ass...

 

Supposedly this is supposed to be a bit of a homage to Ridley's brother Tony Scott, which is funny because when I saw the trailer I thought, this looks like a Tony Scott film, not a Ridley Scott film.

I wonder, if like a good majority of Tony Scott's films, it will get shit on by the critics when it first comes out, but be appreciated a lot more, once it hits the cable circuit.

 

It only got 35% score on rotten tomatoes and right now it appears like a box office flop. What the majority of critics are trashing is the script which is most often described as a convoluted uninteresting boring mess.
