Saw this movie awhile back and I really liked it as well.

 

I watched it back in the day, thought it was okay, but ultimately forgettable.

 

you said the magic words "Ron Howard"... I'll pass

 

Hate his films... Hate them... He's positively mawkish... I find him unbearable... All of the above films feature mostly good actors and even good performances, but they are all undermined by his maudlin, cliched sentimentality

 

There is no subject so dark that he wouldn't turn it into happy ending bullshit... He's the ultimate SAP... His movies make me want to puke

 

Did you like American Graffiti ( I know he didn't direct it, just starred in it)? I think that's maybe the best teen movie ever.

 

what about 'Apollo 13'? if he didn't like that one...Houston, he got a problem.

 

One my favorite Ron Howard films is one of his first starring roles: EAT MY DUST about this young guy who will do anything to get the favor of the girl of his dreams who in turn will do anything to be in a stolen racing car going cross country at 100 miles per hour. Of course the kid steals the car, get her in the passenger seat and with the cops chasing them is a fun thrill ride (1976 Roger Corman standards, mind you).
