Kennedy vs Romero was epic. But agreed that the weird antic at the start of the third round stained it.
It was a terrible stoppage, Poirier was far from being done. He probably would have gotten koed, but the point of having a fight is to know for sure.
I think they could have let it go a little further but Dustin was legitimately hurt. Now on to the debut of Eddie Alvarez.
If Cerrone is gonna win, he's gotta bum rush Eddie at the bell and not let him get comfortable. If he lets Alvarez set the pace, it could be a short night. TFK
Great job by Cerrone. He was the better fighter in there tonight. Eddie's gonna win a lot of fights in the UFC though. TFK
Then again....said bush league org is being dominated currently by UFC dropouts so I don't really get why anyone would be surprised by this.
First Aoki and now Alvarez. Maybe the UFC can sign Hellboy and complete the trio. Honestly, other than the 20 seconds during the clinch in the first round, Alvarez looked very ordinary. And I wanted him to win.
ALvarez is nothing secial. He's a boxer with slow hands and average power. Solid all around, but no outstanding attribute. Still, I think Cerrone was one of the worst style match up for him, since he's brutal in the clinches with his knees, and alvarez was too small to do anything at distance
This is a smart move by the UFC. Because now even though they paid a lot for Eddie. If he comes into the UFC and scrubs out it makes Bellator look like garbage. Especially considering their LW division was their alleged crown jewel.
Saying Alvarez was "much better" than Cerrone was over the top but not as bad as JOM foaming over Reem.
