Man, sometimes the shit that they put out is downright ridiculous. I heard an advertisement for UFC 121 yesterday and they referred to Cain Velasquez as a "knockout artist". Where do they get this shit?
It's crazy. Before the Nog fight people were questioning Cain's power. After he knocks out a shot Nog that had just been drilled by Mir, Cain is suddenly a big puncher. Bullshit.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Xn7L3ISYVs&feature=related Sonnen talking about UFC hype/propaganda and business.
Vitali is built up the same way despite never really killshotting anyone....all a matter of interpretation.
Huh?? Knockouts don't necessarily have to be a result of 1 punch. Vitalis KO % speaks for itself. Velasquez has only KO'd a mummy.
Cain has like 1 decision ever... I wouldn't necessarily call him a KO artist, but he has very Julio Cesar Chavez-esque accumulation stoppage style.
UFC has been exaggerating (or lying) about what their fighters have done and can do since the beginning. They're very, very good at selling crap to people who don't know better. It's how they keep it going.
This doesn't make him a KO artist. Besides the mummy, Cain has done nothing against decent opposition to prove that he is a KO artist.
Boxing gets called out everytime they hype anything, UFC overhype everything far worse than boxing ever has.
Are you seriously comparing Cains knockout record to Vitali's? Some of the things you say here seriously blow me away.
I dont think he realizes that Vitali's KO ratio is over 90%. The man has knocked out practically Every opponent he has faced.
Vitali has 40 fights, Cain has 8. Vitali also had a 100% KO ratio for his first 27 fights. We can revisit this comparison when 1) Cain has fought a bunch more fights 2) When Cain is fighting top guys on a consistant basis.
Oh yeah because I forgot boxing = mma, and that fighters fight 25 cans before fighting serious fighters, and that the fights are 36 minutes rather than 15. And there just happens to be only like 5 other wins to win a fight other than punching the other guy. Disregard that.
Cain hasn't really been tested though TLC, it's not like his 8 fights were all against world beaters. Though his last three were decent, none of those guys are at the top of the division. Nog looked absolutely horrible in his last 3 fights and is Cain's best win.
Yeah and one of those three, Kongo, had Cain on queer street and took every power shot Velasquez could offer. After that fight EVERYONE was questioning Cain's power. And then BOOM he knocks out Nog and suddenly he's Mike Tyson.
Too bad no one still is saying that he has KO power, rather that he wins the majority of his fights by KO/TKO. Which is true.
This doesn't make him a KO artist. Also, you were the one comparing his record to Vitalis. Which is ridiculous.
"And it's all ov....... Oops. Nevermind.". - Mike Goldberg "Sherk is limp!" - Joe Rogan Man. Dana really needs to stop telling these guys that they need to hype the fights. It's getting pathetic.
