Whitaker was a past-prime drug addict when he struggled with Hurtado and totally gone when he fought Trinidad... Piss poor examples, as always

All of your arguments for Floyd are based on disingenuous or ignorant relativism ... How does Floyd do aged 33 years against Thomas Hearns? He gets fucking stomped, just as Roberto Duran did ...

  2. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

No it isn't ... Age is completely relative ... The trajectory of a fighter's career is affected by numerous things that can sometimes be related to age but more often are related to other things... No two people are exactly alike...

  3. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

Point is that your (absurd) critique of Duran as a fighter is ALWAYS related to the rest of the "fab four" and seems to ignore willfully that he was the smallest and oldest and had engaged in the most fights for the longest time ... From there you extrapolate and compare him with a guy like Mayweather ignoring all of the above (never mind how fucking great those fighters were)

  4. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

The best fighter of the 70s was Roberto Duran ... His relevance in the 80s is just gravy

  5. ILLUMINATI

    ILLUMINATI Roberto Duran

WHAT??? Pacquiao would fucking SLAUGHTER Corrales.....he will pound on Castillo....and make Alvarez face into mashed potatoes....the only questionable fight of them is the ALvarez fight...but Pacquiao easily dominate Castillo at 135 and Corrales at 130....

  6. No punk, you can't play the sly one like you play some of the low forehead chumps on this site . My examples are perfect and here's why. In the context we are talking about duplicating Floyd's feat which is remaining undefeated through almost 20 years, 17 of which were at the championship level with his accomplishments at 154 against Canelo and other guys at the time coming at an age when other great fighters in history were losing left right and centre. As such, don't fucking act like whitajerncould have done what Floyd has done when as you said around that age he was done. That's the point . No one else has proven to be able to do what Floyd has done. There are reasons why other fighters were more beat up at 33 than Floyd was at 40... Floyd was tough, smart and hardly received any damage . He was that good.

  7. Had Pacquiao not fought Marquez we'd be saying the same thing. Granted, Marquez is a counter puncher unlike the other two but Castillo was tough as nails at lightweight and Corrales walked through Frietas power and went toe to toe with Castillo

  8. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

This is entirely nonsensical... Your "context" ignores quality of opposition, rendering it worthless

Agreed with sly that duran is probably not consistent enough to not lose a few fights if he faced pbf opposition. Doesnt means he was a worst fighter, but he wasnt as disciplined. But to be honest i dont think that pbf should be undefeated.

  10. puerto rock

Would Floyd be undefeated if he faced the level of comp Duran did at 135, 147, an 154?

  11. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

Duran was consistent enough to be 72-1 over a 13 year span :scratcher:

  12. Xplosive

    Xplosive X-MOD Bad Motherfucker

Soooooo, you're saying.... he have lost?

  13. No doubt and he gets major props for that. But if he had moved up from lightweight sooner, let's say after being pro for 4 years, would he have had that 72-1 record? anyway, Floyd with his Olympic pedigree and name recognition would have never had to fight so often to make a dime and to get recognition just like Leonard before him so I don't see the point of bringing up so many fights.

  14. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

EXACTLY! To some guy with with "Jesus" in his name! That's blasphemy!

    THE SLY ONE HAS SPOKEN!!!!

  15. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

He doesn't get props from half the guys here, including you, who seem to think the guy's career began in 1979 and know nothing about his career or the guys he fought during his prime

If Duran retires after beating DeJesus in the rubber match in 1978, he's one of the greatest fighters ever ... This seems to be overlooked quite a bit by some

  16. Irrelevant though as we are talking about staying undefeated in almost 20 years in 5 divisions with 17 years at the championship level.

  17. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

    In an atrocious era:scratcher:

Quality of comp matters, man and no amount of pretending that everything is and has been totally awesome and healthy for the last decade plus is going to change that

  18. Jesus of montreal

Jesus of montreal WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

Disagreed. His wn over srl is much more impressive than what he did at lw, and what gives him a claim at being among the top 5 p4p ever

  19. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

If he never fought SRL, he'd still be regarded as probably the greatest lightweight ever and easily a top 10-15 p4p fighter ever

The legend was written long before he fought Leonard... You can disagree all you want, but the facts/reality don't support your view... He was the best fighter of that decade (a great decade, I need not remind you) and already acknowledged as an all-time great

  20. Atrocious my ass. As I said multiple times before, contemporary eras are always frowned upon. That's the nature of the beast with boxing fans. After the fact people appreciate it. As I said before, Hagler's comp wasn't looked upon too favourably at the time. All a guy can do is beat the best available competition in his era. Should we diss Louis because he fought a bunch of overmatched white dudes? Both Duran and Chavez padded their records with scores of Latino bums before fighting in the big leagues. Duran lost to every one of the great fighters he faced. Every single one. Floyd "have" not lost ( and have cars).

Jesting aside, the point is that Floyds mean/median beaten opposition is better than Duran's. Before you get a coronary from that statement give me 7 guys on Duran's BEATEN resume ( guys he's beaten) that are COLLECTIVELY (on aggregation) better than these 7 of Floyds:

    Corrales
    Castillo
    De la Hoya
    Hatton
    Cotto
    Canelo
    Marquez

  21. Duran was indeed and all time great even before Leonard and the Leonard win cemented it. I'm not trying to put down Duran just saying that there's no evidence to suggest that he could have duplicated Floyds feat over two decades in 5 weight classes. Duran just wasn't that consistent

  22. Bordon

    Bordon Undisputed Champion

That's not the original question. It was "who would beat Floyds opponents?"

  23. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

    LOL, you truly are delusional

    Ken Buchanan
    Ernesto Marcel
    Esteban DeJesus
    Carlos Palomino
    Sugar Ray Leonard

Those 5 on aggregate are better than your 7 combined... I absolutely ADORE how you throw the un-juiced tiny Marquez, old man Hoya (1-3 in his previous 4, one year layoff, miles beyond his best days) and the fucking ginger in there like those are anything other than NAMES

You don't even know who any of the guys Duran fought before 1979 ARE

Take Leonard off Duran's list and it's STILL better... I'm not even throwing in quality pros like Viruet, Lampkin, Ishimatsu because you wouldn't know them from your uncle, anyway

  24. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

    right

  25. According to the letter of the law , sure, but according to the spirit of the law you have to take into account the longevity and a guy that started at 130 lbs and still doing it into his late 30s and against guys far bigger than himself. You see, the heart of the question is that people seem to think it's easy for past fighters to have duplicated Floyds career. 20 years at the top and undefeated is no easy task, not when 90% of that is championship fights.

So, I reject your point and say that the spirit is the issue not the letter.

  26. Ken buchanan my ass. De Jesus lost a few times before Duran beat him unless I'm mistaken. Who did Buchanan beat? Who did palomino beat?

Floyds guys have also beaten other good guys. Hatton beat Tszyu. Corrales beat Frietas and casamayor. Marquez beat Pacquiao . Castillo beat Corrales . De la Hoya, well I don't need to say. Canelo beat Cotto , trout and Lara. Cotto beat Martinez ( who beat williams and pavlik) .

    You have no case

  27. Bordon

    Bordon Undisputed Champion

So what you're saying is Floyd is a mid-talent that IV doped a few extra years out of his career in a weak era? That's an overstatement.

  28. ILLUMINATI

    ILLUMINATI Roberto Duran

lol....typical floyd groupie...De Jesus has losses...lol.....Buchanan is white..nigga please! and he got losses...little dick but big nut...sack..

Cdoggy just don't know....Floyd has victories by proxy.....he beat a guyu that beat a guy...that beat the guy....who FLoyd fear like one of them ghetto hoes with big booty and stank puss...

  29. Bordon

You're silly. Lol. "Dejusus lost a few times"

  30. Jesus of montreal

Jesus of montreal WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

That is not what ive said. Yeah he was a great fighter before, but if he had retired after the third dejesus fight, nobody would have put him in the top 5 ever, and even less the goat, as some say he is
