Wasnt this footage taken by someone that use to post on Boxingtime or early fightbeat? Is my memory shot or what that another famous sparring session?

    Maybe John Garfield (Joe Rein)

(not that he claimed to have recorded the footage himself but i think he was around)

He also predicted JT over Hoyfield very accurately.

Big time palm to the forehead moment. I literally couldn’t figure out who he was talking about.

James Toney obv. There was a usual pre-fight prediction thread. Being it wasn't a mega fight not everybody around gave their thoughts/predictions, but Joe's post came across more as a summary of a fight that already happened than a prognostication.

Joe Rein was a hell of a nice man in the exchanges I had with him... we emailed a bit back and forth way back when about various fighters. Cool conversations and he was a real old NY type of character; interesting guy ... just sort of lost touch with him. Wish I’d picked his brain some more before he passed away.

Rainmaker recorded Sinan Samil Sam sparring the medical staff that were trying to get his 40 Oz off him.

In fairness........it's a joke. Toney looks like he weighs 230lbs and he's sparring a guy whose best fight at 168lbs was getting DQ'd by Markus Beyer. A guy who lost on points to a guy who got KO'd by Sven Ottke.

Reminds me a lot of the infamous Kirkland sparring brilliance.........followed by ignominious defeats to such stars as Wakashido Watanable of Japan.

Had an Unfortunate Falling Out Over a Roy Jones Series of Articles REED Had in Mind...The Title of the Series was Intended to Be "A Trip Down MemoR.O.Y. Lane - Reminisce Over You", Taken from the Hip Hop Classic "T.R.O.Y." (They Reminisce Over You)...

w/Out Telling REED, the 1st Installment of the Series was Posted w/a Different Title, "Roy Jones - A Magician In the Ring"...Bear in Mind, Antonio Tarver's Nickname was "Magic Man"...Going from Worse to WORSER, Cupey's Bitch Ass Used Pics of Roy Rocking the EXACT Outfit He Wore in the KO Loss to Tarver...

To Say the Least, REED was LIVID...

When Asked Why the Title was Changed, J.G. Simply Said REED's was "Cheesy" and Cupey Basically Said It was an "Honest Mistake" on HIS Part, Using Tarver II Pics of Roy to Kickstart the Roy Series...

Right or Wrong, REED was @ the HEIGHT of His RJ Fandom and EXTREMELY Sensitive to ANY Real or Perceived SLIGHTS to His Dude, Roy Jones...& FULLY Understanding it was Cupey's Site and J.G. was the Editor, REED Still Expected to Have a Voice on the Finished Product Prior to Release...

REED Felt His Project was Being Sabotaged, Lashed Out @ J.G. and Cupey for "Butchering" His Idea and that was the End of the RJ Series...

I wasn't aware of any of that, or even if it is true, all I saw is a sparring video, which on the face of it seemed like a totally pointless exercise.

On the whole, Danny Green was a boisterous asshole who talked bigger than he walked but being the year it was and "Social Media" being largely non existent back then, you can appreciate I had heard nothing of Greens behaviour.

That said, Toney could pick a fight in an empty room, regardless.

I never watched that. I only ever watched the 30 minute version of the sparring and I only watched that in full this morning.

I literally went from the Joe Rogan clip to YT in a matter of minutes.....I dragged my mouse along the Rogan video and saw it was mostly him talking, so I left it.

I don't watch Joe Rogan, not as a rule, but I just don't watch him. Simple as.

I talked to Joe about a half dozen times at length. He called me the day Farrah Fawcett died - that afternoon before Michael Jackson died. He told me of his prostate cancer diagnosis and to not laugh when his voice got higher as part of the therapy was estrogen injections. He fought the good fight with bravery and he told me lots of stories how he got to be in LA making commercials for car dealerships, as well as the good old days in NYC and Stillman's gym sparring with Joe Brown. I miss him.

BTW: Joe Rein did create broadcast history of a sort as he gave Farrah Fawcett her very first acting job.

I read in Joe's eulogies that he was a big deal in the advertising industry and sorta parlayed that copywriting and production skill into the boxing journalism arena.

It's a shame that Cupey just didn't hand the site over completely to John Garfield and Donnybrook and maybe some of the younger crew, they would have pulled it all together and made it work. But I can understand why not - Cupey had literally built the piece of shit site with his bare hands, going to community college to learn how to code a website - hard to give up the keys after going broke building it.

Now of course, Fightbeat is at its absolute peak powers and the best it's ever been - and has TKO as CEO, Punk as GM of Customer Service, REED BBS as it's exclusive video promotion channel and Stinger as boxing technical consultant.

I was communicating with him on facebook until right after Trump won. He totally lost it when Killary blew the election. He was posting hate threads and threats against the President so I had to cut him loose. Don't know if facebook did or not but he became violent in his postings towards the Executive Branch.
