Yes it's a shame it's on PPV, and no, as fans, we shouldn't buy it but it's a pretty solid card nonetheless. I think Faber has a chance vs Aldo. I feel a real A class fighter will beat up on Faber who rely way too much on his athleticism and has very poor technic, but is Aldo one ?? Sure he looked great vs Brown but word out of the camp is that Brown had numerous problems going in the fight. Remeber, at first it was Faber who was one of the best p4per ( wich I felt was ridiculous ), then it was Brown and now it's Aldo. Seems more like some good Zuffa hype top me. Aldo may be overrated following his ko of Brown, and if he's as good as he looked there then he gets Faber out of there early and easilly. But he's probably not, still, he'll be good enough to take a decision. Brown-Gamburyan is a good fight too. Could turn out to be a stinker thought.
This actually is a really good card. But I will be out of state at a family function overnight, so I'm not gonna be able to catch it, PPV or stream. Oh well, it's not like there's a lack of MMA coming up. UFC 113 is in 2 weeks. Then Strike Force a week after that. Then UFC 114 2 weeks after that. Then UFC 115 2 weeks after that. Then the Ultimate Fighter Finals on Spike a week after that. Then UFC 116 2 weeks after that....etc, etc, etc. TFK
I am really excited about this fight as well. I will not be buying it as a matter of principle, but will try to catch a stream of it. As much as I love Faber, I think Aldo may be too much for him. Aldo is just that good. Fabers main advantage is usually his speed and athleticism. This will be nullified in this fight and Aldo has better power and technique. Also, even though we haven't seen much of Aldos ground game, Faber needs to be careful there too as Aldo is a BJJ black belt at one of the best schools there is.
I hope this restores my passion in the sport. Too much product along with mediocre events have drained my MMA enthusiasm.
Exactly. And this will set them back a few steps. I think they were on their way with the dominance of Aldo and the popularity of Faber, but this one should have been on TV.
it definitely should have been on tv. I had nothing to watch tonight either. But I ain't paying that kind of money for WEC.
Hilarious fight, pretty entertaining. You have to hand it to the little dudes, the fights are usually so much more action packed than the heavier weights. People complain about this being on PPV, but I would rather pay for this card, than the recent shitty fucking UFC card with Anderson Silva, and the recent Strikeforce card. I think the Korean won by the way. In fact, what the fuck is up with all the awful decisions in MMA recently? I thought Sung Jung won every round.
Anyone find it interesting that there hasn't been a single reference to the WEC tonight? No logos, even when Ben won, he was STILL ...lightweight champion of the world.
Good point, even the on screen graphics just says "Aldo Vs Faber", no logo or anything. What do you think that's about?
this seems like a UFC production to me. has joe rogan commentated on a WEC event before? i've never seen dana white on any of the previous WEC telecasts although i'm not really an avid follower of this promotion.
Aldo really was chopping Faber legs in the 1st round. Pretty slow round but Aldo methodically picked Faber, who's game is full of hole as usual, but Aldo is quick enough to capitalize on it
faber is tough. probably the toughest guy i've ever seen taking that amount of punishment. his corner is retarded for not stopping this. same w/ the ref
woops, missed the 1st round, so my comment was about the 2nd. Still, more of the same, Aldo dominating and had Faber in the crucifix a la kimbo-big country. Pretty dull fight thought
no way, just like kimbo-nelson, these shot were nothing, and he took a beating to the legs, not the face, so it,s not like if he's in danger. HOnestly, this post is way overboard, the fight was dull as fuck , and it makes you look like an overexcited kid
Shit fight, and Faber was just too content to last the distance, he didn't really try to win. He's still fairly tough though.
