He's a funny guy when he's on, & I definitely appreciate quite a bit of his work. That said, I have to reluctantly admit he has made more than his fair share of turgid, unfunny, third-raters, especially in recent years. Not bad films, but outright awful ones, as well as a few which were no better than hit-&-miss (include the average Semi-Pro among them). He's had some real high moments, but just too many low ones for mine. Step-Brothers is singularly one of the top-10 worst comedies I've seen in my entire lifetime.
Fuck Ferrell, he thrived as a top comedian because the talent pool was so thin, not because he was talented.
