Maybe more of a MM-A few "if's" here I suppose (weight being a big one)
@ 160- Not that this fight will ever happen, but if it did:
-I know Bernards GR8 & some may think that it's sacrilige to even suggest that Williams may beat him, but if he could get out-worked. Would he be able to keep it in a phone booth, or would Williams be able to keep him @ his distance & out-work him?

Hopkins historically has had problems with busy guys

I mean, we still need to see how Williams reacts to the punch of a real middleweight hitter, but I can see him causing Bernard all kinds of grief with his style

Hopkins is real smart in there, and he is so good at taking away an opponent's best weapon and forcing him to rely on a plan B

Bernard was clearly overwhelmed down the stretch by the workrate of Calzaghe, but joe is a better close range, short puncher than Williams in my opinion... Joe's forte has always been those quick hands at close range and I think that really disturbed Hopkins, who loves to score subtle but effective blows at that range... I dont know that Williams could do that and I could see Hopkins potshotting with enough eye-catching right hands to sway the judges and do long-term damage that would pay off in the later rounds... Hopkins likes to clinch and his opponents tend to clinch themselves more often against him than they normally would, they fall into the trap... but against a guy with William's workrate, I dont know that he'd be able to do that enough without it becoming so obvious that he'd risk losing points

Its a tough fight to pick, assuming Williams has the chin to handle a reasonably heavy handed Middleweight of course

It would either look like Williams vs Quintana I or Hopkins Calzaghe...It depends who can impose their style on the other.

Hopkins cant and wont miss with his right hand. Williams dosent see the 8th round.

Williams-Dawson would probably be more likely...and I would like Dawson.

    I figured it's better than talking of a mythical match-up like Hopkins-Williams.

Hopkins wants to get paid, so talking about a fight with someone who can't sell tickets seems pointless.

    from a practical standpoint, sure

but from the standpoint of just theorizing how it would go down, its simply a matter of fun... heck, thats why they have mythical matchups

Salvador Sanchez isnt going to arrive in a time machine, 22 years old and fight Juan Manuel Marquez but its enjoyable to discuss what might have happened in such a bout

    A prime Tito (i.e - 2000), would've beaten Williams in 5, and Hopkins in 8.
