Vitali clearly. Bowe is too slow on his feet and too passive with distance.

I'd give Holyfield a good shot at edging Vitali out though.

Vitali breaks Bowe down from the distance. Bowe would capture some rounds with his infighting skills but he simply wouldn't land enough

If I felt like Bowe had the impetus to push inside regularly I'd probably pick him because that'd be just the ticket against Vitali. And Bowe's height would give him a great chance broach the distance Vitali basically uses as his sole defence, and once he's there it'd be dominantly Riddick.

But it's just not in Bowe's nature. He's one of these guys (Andre Ward is a modern example) who just fights at whatever distance his opponent settles for. It's like 'range' isn't a variable in his programming. And while he's good at all ranges, but nowhere near as good from distance as Vitali.

Wow, is the elder Klitschko ever massively over-rated.

No, people just realize that even though Bowe fought in the more orthodox manner he did not have the tools to beat Vitali

Look no further than Riddick Bowes own words about Golota when he stated how "that was the first time a guy could jab with me, and it threw me"

Vitali will be jabbing with this guy times 10.

Oh how quickly people forget that Vitali couldnt even beat an old, fat, and unmotivated Lewis.

The 92 Bowe rips him a new asshole.

All these bums in the division today simply dont have the skillset to push Vitali. Bowe's snapping jab would be very problematic for Klit, and on the inside Vitali gets lit up with uppercuts.

Even that version of Lewis was better than Bowe and furthermore Lewis' style was much better suited against Vitali

LMAO! Believe that if you want to.

The 03 Lewis would get thrashed by the 92 Bowe.

The Golota fight has nothing to do with it, since the threads clearly states Riddick Bowe (Prime)

Honestly, this is a mismatch. '92 Bowe wins easily.

The 03 Lewis still had the better defense and threw straighter shots than any Bowe, the two things (besides luck) than helped him to defeat Vitali

Vitaly can be tall and akward and durable and mix up his offence as much as he wants. It all boils down to the black style of boxing. Vitaly doesn't have the black style of boxing and Riddick does hence Riddick kills him .

WTF dude that's boxing 101. You always first check for the figther's level of blackness and then go from there.

It was a combination of black and attitude. I have never heard Boss' term of 'fight black' in official reports either you know. A smart guy might have realized that

If Wladimir had a chin, I'd give him a good shot but I think Vitali just winds up being a game, willing participant in a fight he loses clearly... The Biggest criticism of Bowe, aside from his laziness and early decline, was that he didnt always use his height, he tended to go inside against guys he could have beaten from a distance... I think that tendency works in his favor here against a guy who is a tall, erect, arm puncher who's main defense is the fact that he is tall and most heavyweights today are too chickenshit to get inside... I think Bowe, a very fine inside fighter would like this scenario and would land a lot of clean combos in Vitali... Bowe by comprehensive decision in a fine, action fight

While there is a point in that, I think Vitali's strength, reach, movement and great use of distance has plenty to do with it. Added to the fact that Bowe was not actually a difficult target, instead he liked to just walk inside against smaller guys and you can see him having a major struggle here. I do give him a chance though

Vitali would sink his German-engineered giant snake into Mike Cryson's ass and make him hindu-push-up, then he'd knock Biteson out and shit a German-engineered crap on his puny chest

Nah, the Blackitude improvisation better framed the instigative facetiousness of his sentiment.:kidcool: UGTBK's English is rather lovely.

I initially thought the exact same thing (I even typed it out before rewatching some youtube stuff and changing my mind), only that I think Bowe was just too laid back and happy to go with the flow in terms of range to consistently apply that sort of pressure. It doesn't just take being a better infighter to beat a guy who can't fight inside, it takes getting inside consistently. And that takes a high energy level & the kind of sustained aggression I've never seen from Bowe.

Chances are better than even that it'd settle at long to mid range for the vast majority after an explosive early period.

I'll say this - if Bowe goes in mad, goes for a KO early and fights with that kind of energy there's a good chance he wins this within 4 or 5 rounds. I'm an admirer of Vitali and his unorthodoxy but Bowe really was a technically better fighter & in a fire fight I think that pays. But it'd take that approach.

At distance, and at a slower pace Vitali's length and strange variety gets the better of most of the rounds.
