Local fight here in the Pacific Northwest. A very close friend of mine is the main event. Landon Showalter. His record doesn't give him justice, he has some nice wins and some close losses with UFC veterans. Has fought on Strikeforce several times. He won't ever be up for a title, but promoters love him because he brings it everytime. A great guy, humble, hardworking, great father, and I am a proud friend. WAR SHOW!!!

(PRESS RELEASE) -- CageSport MMA returns to the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma on Saturday, Feb. 19 when Brian Halquist Productions presents CageSport XIII.

Landon “The Show†Showalter clashes with Justin “Dangerous†Davis in the main event, while the undercard will be highlighted by former UFC veteran “Bad†Brad Blackburn and Strikeforce veteran Bryan “Kid Lightning†Caraway.

“Our match maker Rich Geurin has put together some incredible cards for us,†said promoter Brian Halquist, “but this might be our best line-up yet. Showalter and Davis should provide a stellar main event and having Blackburn and Caraway on the card only adds to the excitement.â€

A former North American Muay Thai and North American Pankration welterweight champion, Showalter has wins over UFC veterans Drew "The Master" Fickett and Steve "Hollywood" Bruno to his credit, while Davis has fought at Strikeforce and Xtreme Fighting Championship events.

Blackburn made his UFC debut in Las Vegas on July 19, 2008, defeating James Giboo by TKO on the undercard of Anderson Silva/James Irvin main event.

The Seattle-based welterweight went on to score victories over Ryo Chonan at UFC 92 on Dec. 28, 2008 and Edgar Garcia at The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale on June 20, 2009 before losing to The Ultimate Fighter 7 winner Amir Sadollah at UFC Fight Night 20 on Jan. 11, 2010.

Caraway, a featherweight fighting out of Ellensburg, Washington, defeated Alex Zuniga by unanimous decision at the ShoMMA: Strikeforce Challengers event on June 19, 2009. Caraway is a perfect 2-0 lifetime at CageSport events, defeating Daniel Stenovich on Dec. 29, 2008 and Eddie Pelczynski on Oct. 3, 2009 with both wins coming by triangle chock submissions.

Blackburn is slated to face Chris Ensley, while Caraway will meet Shorty Wiekel.

The undercard will also feature Tyson “Straight Jacket†Johnson facing Matt Coble, Kyle Welch against Mike Riddell, Julian Erosa meeting Tyrone Angolia, and Tacoma-resident Natalie Evans making her MMA debut.

First fight on the card will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $35, $55 and $100 and are available at the Emerald Queen Casino box office 1-888-831-7655 and at all Ticketmaster outlets.

    Good deal Jarhead...

By the way, there are some pretty decent names on that card for being a local deal.

    Are you going?

Cool. So you have to yell "Sweep the leg Landon" as he leaves the corner.

Its funny you said that, Landon is a heavy metal guy, and I'm trying to convince him to come out to the Karate Kid song, "you're the best around, no ones ever gonna take you down!"

Have him come out to Slayer, Angel of Death. Then proceed to beat some ass! Now that's fighting music!

    I'm a metal guy myself.

I'll try, but Sherdog's forum really turned him off. He told someone that he fought on there and he had all these wanabe desk jockeys telling him he sucks and so on. I'll say something to him though.

He used to always come out to Pantera, Fucking Hostile. Definitely a great fighting song, not a real family friendly song and the promoters really got on him about it.:scratcher:

You know, if you play your cards right Jarhead, you might end up being the Stinger of the MMA forum.

Seriously, we need some involvement from someone like him around here. Make it happen dude.

You should interview him and I'll write a story for the Home page.

As a Guy that has Several Close Friends that BOX Professionally, REED Can Honestly Say there's NATHAN More FRIGHTENING than those Seconds just Prior to a Homey Engaging in an MMA Match...

TERRIFYING Shit...It's like Watching your Boy in a HORROR Flick or Something...

It Doesn't Get Any WORSE than Watching a Dude U Care For Take a Beating, as Marcus Hicks Did vs. Jamie Varner...REED Wouldn't Wish that on ANY Homey of a Professional MMAist...Marcus has NOfuckingRECOLLECTION of that Fight, Even as he Rewatches it...

Landon fought Leben down in Portland and lost a split decision. (I gave it to Landon 2 rounds to 1) But Leben hit him with a huge right at the beginning of the 3rd round, he doesn't remember anything till being back in the locker room vomiting in the toilet.

Brother REED, I know what you mean, Landon and I are boys from childhood. Grew up together. I watched him get brutally KO'd by Robbie Lawler and it practically destroyed me inside watching it.

Crazy shit REED. I always like Marcus, mainly because he was your boy, but I liked the style he brought. Is he out of it now, or fighting locally?

by the way who is that in your sig?
