MWS, if you read my post I said there are many things different between the two fights, but they shared the fact that older, washed up fighters were easily handled. I know Oscar was favored just like I know Belfort went off as only a slight underdog. In both cases, the fights were thought to be more even beforehand and exposed as not being close in reality. I don't think any of that is incorrect.
belfort was no SLIGHT underdog. The UFC hype machine tried to hype him up as being a legit threat, but anyone who knows anything about the sport knew he had no chance.
Yep, I agree. I complained about him not deserving the shot the minute it was announced. But I was talking about the odds. Hell, Jon Jones against Bader was a bigger betting favorite. And I think you're right. The UFC really affected where money was bet with the hype of Belfort. I think I saw his KO of Franklin replayed everywhere I looked. But I think it also had a lot to do with how bad Silva looked against Sonnen. Different styles though.
Really? How about pointing out one thing incorrect in that post... Or is it just back to spamming for the sake of it.
In both cases, the fights were thought to be more even beforehand and exposed as not being close in reality. This line is very misleading. It would work if Belfort was supposed to win vs. Silva, maybe. Silva/Belfort was also not exposed as not being close in reality. Anyone that knew anything was positive Belfort would take a dirt nap.
Ummm, in both cases the fights were expected to be closer than they actually ended up being.... So try again.
There isn't a question or anything to respond to. You agreed that boxing often matches champions against unworthy challengers. Boxing is no different. So you agree with me. There is no longer a debate.
Simple. You bought into the UFC hype. Belfort hasnt done crap in 10 years besides Franklin. Add to that ring rust and injury. A + B = C
Yep, but again, I'm not talking about my opinion. I am talking about the odds. The betting closed the odds on the Silva-Belfort fight which means people were betting on Belfort. As I said, the UFC hype and the way Silva looked in his last fight had a lot to do with convincing people that Belfort would be competitive. Nevertheless, people gave him more of a shot than he deserved. And I'm not talking about people like you who lead the Prediction Contest. I'm talking about the average person. LOL.
