I don't think so. I mean if Matt Hamill schools you you're pretty much done and considering how much Dana pays him to fight he will not match him up against anyone weaker than Hamill.
Truthfully, I'm not sure there's a gift matchup the UFC can give Tito. I'm not sure there's a single 205 pounder currently on the UFC's roster that I'd make an underdog to Tito. So, No.
probably not. but the real question is, who gives a shit about ortiz? maybe he can fight keith jardine somewhere in a 2 bit promotion.
I just don't think Tito's style of decent wrestling with great ground and pound works at his age with all the injuries. Tito in his prime would still be a decent fighter in today's MMA. He had a good chin, was damn strong and could definitely posture up and pound dudes from the guard. But he would still fail against good stand up fighters with good take down defense. Today, his physical style just doesn't work as he is older and weaker.
Agreed. Younger he'd still be a solid fighter and get some decent wins, but he wouldn't be a "name" guy. Just another middle of the pack type.
I don't think anyone could honestly argue against that. Ortiz beat Rashad Evans who is likely in everyone's top 5 when Ortiz was probably starting his downhill slide. I realize the fight was a draw by the way, but Tito won the fight. Tito also hasn't looked completely out classed in his last two against Griffin and Hamill who are both Top 20 guys.
Yes, but it wasn't a robbery or anything. Tito won 2-1 but got deducted a point for holding the fence when he gassed to stop a TD.
But seriously, when have you ever seen a pointed deducted without several warnings? I thought it was horseshit.
