http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/boxing/9408798.stm Enzo Maccarinelli will drop to light-heavyweight as the former WBO world cruiserweight champion bids to save his boxing career. The 30-year-old could set up an all-Welsh clash with unbeaten WBO world title challenger Nathan Cleverly. Maccarinelli considered retirement in the wake of four defeats in three years but after talks with promoter Frank Warren, he has decided to fight on. "I still want to be a fighter," said Welshman Maccarinelli. "Although I have made a few mistakes in recent years." ******************** This guy is going to get bashed an probably hurt, permanently this time. He has already had too many brutal KO's and another one might turn the trick this time.
He was never the most solid looking guy at 200 and it's easy to imagine him making 175, if he really did things properly. But then allot of us thought that about Chris Byrd too, but it never seems to work out that way. Even a little lost muscle seems to do bad things to the body. I agree, you gots to be concerned about this :scared2:
This will work out about as well as Chris Byrd's belief that merely dropping five pants sizes would make him a better fighter.
Listening to Byrds wife screaming and giving instructions at ringide, I never got the feeling Chris wore the pants in that relationship to begin with. Maccarinelli had a stint at 200lb+ when he stopped some nondescript Britsh-level trialhorse. Now he is talking 175? Nah. He is dust. :blackcloud:
The beating i'm referring to is the round he got KO'd in, sorry dude. He was making a fight of it, but you could sense Frenkel was going to spark him, (well i could anyway)
