15 minutes of fame - they were heaped upon us and then both quickly faded away. Seems to me like they are both better examples then most mentioned as they actually had a bit of "fame" in their 15 minutes.

Not sure what your point is. They were obscure at least to me before they turned pro and they didn't last long as pros. Not many people follow amateur boxing.

Boxing fans tend to follow the Olympics, or at least who's coming out of them.

The other point is the thread starter blatantly said "similar to one-hit wonders in music".

Seriously, in that sense, Williams and Bojado were no-hit wonders.

That would be part of the undeserved title shots that he received, but yeah I guess.

They were obscure (not on network TV / not being fed to the fans / not generally known). Then they were thrust onto prime time television where everyone could see them. Then, just as quickly they were obscure again.

If you disagree then so be it. I could give two shits.

How 'bout Mickey Ward's liver shot to Alfonso Sanchez?

Before that fight, Mickey was fighting in a bunch of nothing fights in his local Massachusettes area and as an opponent in Atlantic City on occasion. He even had a four fight losing streak in those early years. For many, boxing wasn't his thing.

That liver shot got him some bigger fights, including Zab Judah; although he lost most of them, he hung around until the Emmanuel Augustus fight and then eventually the Gatti trilogy.

More like 30 minutes of fame... But after being heralded as the middleweight dominator for the next ten years and big american hope, the Kelly Pavlik wagon clearly lost some steam lately...

Not sure how that can count considering he was the undisputed Middleweight Champion :dunno:
