it's a good pick i think. real sweet movie. some great scenes (de niro and his woman falling in love - brilliant). great fucking performance from de niro in general. pacino's shouty but good. great supporting cast - pretty much everybody cast is a respectable actor. fichtner, buffalo bill from silence of the lambs, machete, wes studi, jon voight, the red dragon from manhunter, waingro, portman, hank azaria, ... and val kilmer actually does a good job.

Shouldn't this be in the Movie forum?

Heat was an excellent movie, but there are quite a few from the past 20 years I'd rank higher.

My 2nd choice would be Saving Private Ryan, then the Dark Knight followed by Inception.

I'm talking overall I have some favorites that I haven't listed like Appaloosa and Rounders

Heat is ranked number 121 on this list. Many listed are not from the last 20 years, but I'd probably agree with at least half of them that are above Heat that are from the last 20 years.

The movie right above it at 120, No Country For Old Men, for example.

No Country for Old Men is overrated, another good but not great movie. Even the minor characters in HEAT had good roles and character resolution at the end. I can't say that about a lot of movies in the past 20 years.

Well, the list is compiled by the votes of the people. Not everyone agrees with your taste.

I'd rate Fight Club higher than Heat myself. I'd also rate The Departed higher, and off the top of my head another that rarely gets mentioned The Count of Monte Cristo.

I'll limit mine to films in 1995 that I liked better:

    Dead Presidents
    The Usual Suspects
    Se7en
    Devil In A Blue Dress
    Crimson Tide
    Casino
Clockers (though I realize not a popular choice)

and my daughters will argue that Toy Story was also better (even though 2 and 3 were superior to 1, and also the fact that they haven't seen Heat )

Certainly not the greatest movie of the last 20 years but still one of my favorites. They're going to be releasing a steelbook version on Bluy Ray soon that i'm going to be picking up.

I want an extended edition version, preferably in a box together with The English Patient. I felt they rushed through these movies. They needed more time to develop.

Nothing special, just a limited edition version in a steel case. Future Shop in Canada releases some that are exclusives. Americans pay a good dollar for them when put on Ebay.

I don't believe this one is an exclusive though.

No need to be facetious. Heat was very well paced and full of storylines that were all resolved. The part where the crooks do a sting on the cops was an instant classic.

I agree it was a bit too long, but there weren't a lot of boring lulls in the action though.

The domestic stuff was tiresome but worth it and added to the movie with the way they ended it.

If that is a knock against Heat, I can't see why Deer Hunter gets off unscathed from most.

I liked the entire HEAT movie but I can see where people would have a problem and think that it "dragged on". My point is that the ending tied everything up pretty well to where it wasn't a waste of time.

Usual suspects might have been better but no way was Clockers better. That was a solid '6.5 out of ten, enjoyable while it was on but never particularly wanna watch again' type film.

Heat is great but it being 1876546 hours long diminishes its replay value, which reduces its ranking

Twelve Monkeys shits all over these movies mentioned
