Not sure anybody wants to see Jones Jr. still fight, especially against an opponent of this caliber, but negotiations are happening and the possibility does exist.

Fuck. If Roy doesn't care about himself, neither do I. Feel the same about Holyfield.

    Roy might die II

Anyone still believe Roy fought nobody in his prime because of Gerald, because this is his best chance yet to be turned into a vegetable.

The whole Tszyu thing is obviously only a publicity stunt.

Is it? I thought he opened up a boxing academy, but I don't know how much training he does at it.

    Roy needs the money.

I´m just speculating, but his style is set and very well rounded. Don´t know what he would need Tszyu for. The mistake he made against Huck I could correct.

DON`T STOP PUNCHING AFTER SEVEN ROUNDS.

Still one of the most confusing fights of 2010. Winning the fight, badly hurting Huck to the body, he just stopped punching.

I would have liked to see them both retire by now, but Roy's had more of the losses that you really don't want to see.

I haven't wanted to see Roy in the ring since that Johnson KO when he was laying on the canvas like he was.

He has his job at HBO and can make some money on the side fighting scrubs.
He must be in serious debt, if he needs it that badly. Lebedev is no worse than top 3 and the best puncher at cruiserweight.

The Problem is, Roy's Actually SACRIFICING his Commentating Gig, by Repeatedly Getting Bounced Off the Canvas...Before Looooooooong, he'll B a SLURRING, INCOHERENT Mess that Nobody Wants to Listen To...

How does Roy need money? Roy owns real estate, prize bulls, ranches and farm machinery. How the fuck does Roy need money? Roy was never a flash-harry, only has a few kids, the twins I believe, doesn't have 40 baby-mommas. How does he need cash?

I have read that he lost a lot of money on that record label he started - but I can't confirm that personally.

Same. I was genuinely worried every time he stepped in the ring after that Johnson shot for a few years... but it just gets to a point where you have to stop caring.

i remember when Muzse was talking a bunch of shit about mayweather jr blowing all his money, and using jones jr as an example of a guy who hadnt done the same. its sad really.

REED's Heard the Same Rumors...Roy Also Funded his Twins Fledgling R & B Group & Co-Promoted Some Boxing/MMA Shows...He Is or @ Least WAS B.J. Flores' Promoter...Promoting even ONE Event is QUITE Expensive & Only a Select Few Manage to BREAK EVEN by the End of it...

Roy's Gotta B Smart Enough to Know that he ISN'T Helping his Legacy...U NEVER EVER Hear him Talking about a Particular Boxing Related Goal he's Looking to Achieve, in the Twilight of his Career...It CAN'T B an Ego Thing, Cause Dude is Stockpiling EMBARRASSING Losses on his Resume, so it's GOT to B a Monetary Issue...

The difference is Roy blew his actually helping scrubs and funding a record label. Floyd will blow his on gambling, strippers, lawyers and buying foolish shit. Thus Floyd's downfall will be far more spectacular and he'll have far less sympathy.

Don't forget...Floyd has had major IRS problems and tax leins levied against him since 2005. The IRS was set to take his purse from the Marquez fight if Golden Boy h adn't stepped in to pay off his debt a couple days before the fight.

call it what you want. if you blow all your money on anything its foolish in my book. mayweather jr blew money on a record label as well, i dont find it admirable.

How did he lose money on the body head thing? I'm aiming to start a label later this year, it seems like if you plan it properly you can't really lose anything substantial

As long as you start small and build your way up you'll be good. It's all about being smart, taking your time and not dumping too much money in at the start. Good luck Slice if you're serious about it.

This is pretty sad for Roy, hope he pulls off a win somehow. I'm sick of seeing him lose.

This is why it is so important for fighters to retain an inner circle of loved ones throughout their career, composed of people who were there BEFORE they struck it rich. Those people who actually care deeply for the person as opposed to the entity will likely put enormous pressure on a fighter when it is time to hang 'em up. Imagine the incessant nagging by the females.

But in so many cases a "posse" is built up, clinging on as the money pours in like barnacles, telling the "champ" what he wants to hear "You still got it!". Or perhaps there are no longer groupies, but there is also no one trusted enough to go to for advice any more.

I would have thought someone like Merk would have enough influence on Roy to shake him up a bit and tell him when it's just time to STOP. I guess not. When I see cases like this, I really start to wonder if perhaps the fighter's brain actually isn't already marginally damaged which then contributes to his inability to make sane decisions, and the vicious cycle continues as he continues to get in the ring and have his bell rung again and again.

IMO the WORST thing that could happen here is RJJ rolling back the clock a bit and actually winning, meaning he is almost sure to fight again and potentially take on a bigger challenge thus threatening his health even more. I don't even know who to root for here, maybe I'll pray for a first round technical draw or something due to ring malfunction. Seriously, what RJJ fan (or even hater, frankly) wants to sit through this fight knowing Roy could end up unconscious for 10 minutes drooling on the canvas AGAIN?

Use your own home as the studio (to start) and all your expenses will be equipment related. It's the idiots who rent huge spaces and spend foolishly on equipment who fail.

I don't get fighting a dangerous top contender? Why not just fight a couple of scrubs and get a title shot? James Toney, Hasim Rahman...they know you don't dick around with dangerous contenders unless you have to. And you rarely have to.
