Just because 5'10 Japanese judo guys can't get you doesn't mean a real HW grappler can't. ::

TLC, you realize nothing we are talking about is factual, right? EVERYTHING is subjective when talking about mythical matchups. It is all opinion. There is no facts that anyone can present in discussing matchups between two different eras.

With all that is said, I think CroCop would have huge problems with todays HW's with the wrestling base like Cain and Carwin. But don't fool yourself that one head kick from a prime CroCop sends both of them nighty-night.

One of the matchups I constantly think of myself is a prime CroCop vs today's version of a HW Overeem.

 

Overeem pretty much destroyed Cro Cop in there bout. Just a better, all around fighter.

You bag on Crocop getting caught by Randelman, which he AVENGED, yet use Overeem as an example who was stopped on numerous occasions.

Did you watch the fight? He got killed before there ever was a single knee to the groin.

 

He didnt get killed. Yes he was dominating him on the ground, but this does not change the fact that the fight was ended from low blows.

Doesnt matter anyways. Crocop was shot well before this fight anyways.

 

TLC has a point. Cro Cop never ever faced anyone near as athletic or with the wrestling pedigrees of Lesnar or Velasquez.

I don't think these guys automatically beat him in his prime, but they would be far different animals than what he faced. And as good as he take down defense was, it wasn't tested against wrestlers this big and good.

And before anyone throws out Coleman and Randleman, remember neither guy was near 240-265 pounds with the same speed.

 

Not that he was all that good anyway...but Frank Trigg is waaaay past it.

 

Size definitely plays a role. Crocop was one of the smallest heavyweights. He would have been a great LHW

 

No reason to throw out Randleman. He split fights with him and subbed him in the rematch which was nice, but yeah he's not subbing any top dudes now. Hell even THEN, Randleman is probably the only guy bad enough that he could sub. Randleman has some of the all time worst Sub D for a world class fighter.

And Coleman was decrepit when Cro Cop fought him.
